No signal Samsung TV to Wii

To connect a pc to a tv the tv must be able to understand the signal coming from the pc. With most modern tv's you usually have a choice of inputs; composite, s-video, DVI, HDMI to name a few. Most pc's on the other hand only have a vga output which is not compatible with tv. If this is the case you will need to install a video card that supplies a signal your tv will accept. In the past I've used an ATI all-in-wonder-pro (which not only supplies various video signals but allows your pc to capture video as well as watch and capture tv with a built in tv tuner). ATI has been around a long time but nowdays there are these kinds of cards coming out almost everyday.

I am assuming that you are talking about a Nintendo Wii.  When you buy a Wii it comes with standard RCA composite cables that are three colors, Red, White and Yellow.  Yellow is the cable that carries the video signal and the red/white carry the stereo audio signal.  You would need to connect these cables into the corresponding color inputs on your tv.  Plug the yellow ended cable into the yellow jack on your TV and do the same for the red and white cables.  After this is done, you will need to switch your tv's input to the input that corresponds to the one you plugged those cables into.   Some newer flat panel TVs do not come with RCA composite inputs.  If this is your problem, you will need to get some component cables for your Wii.  These cables look identical to RCA (composite) cables but come in colors red, green, blue, red and white.  In this case the red, green and blue cables carry the video signal and the red and white carry the audio.  You can purchase these from just about any store that carries the Wii or online from places such as Amazon.com.

You would hook these up the same way by matching the colors and then changing your tv to the corresponding input.

If you switched tvs and no help than that tells you that the cable that hooks the wii to the tv is probably bad try a new component video or rca cable whichever you are using

The remote should have a button labeled 'Input' or 'TV/AV' or something similar, this cycles the TV through each of its input modes (DVI, HDMI, RCA, Component, etc)...as you click to each one wait several seconds as the change over usually takes a couple seconds.

If this does not work verify cable attached properly. Im assuming that your Wii is working fine on another TV and so it not sending a video signal is not the issue?

This receiver doesn't support processing of video signal, only switching. This means that it can output only the same format of video. Only some more expensive models do upscaling from component/composite to HDMI out.

From HDMI out, you can output only signal that came via HDMI in 1-3. For component out, you can output only component in. The same for composite.

So in order to use wii through receiver to TV, you must connect receiver and TV also via the component cables.

Or other option is to connect component from wii directly to TV and connect only audio to receiver.

I unplugged all leads then reconnected it worked for me

I've never heard of a TV not having component cables (the 5 plug cables: red, blue and green video cables, red and white audio cables). I've seen some newer ones without composite (3 cables: yellow video, red and white audio), but never component.

I find is hard to believe it has no component. I looked at some Samsung LED tv's this weekend, and although they lacked composite, they had component. Are you sure you mean component?

The Wii only comes with composite video cables, so you'll need to buy a component video cable for the Wii to hook it up if your TV has no composite inputs.

Component Cables for the Wii

TV's have inputs on the side and rear. If the TV truly has HDMI, USB and nothing else (which I find hard to believe), then you'll need a cheap home theather 5.1 receiver. Ifyou get a cheap one with HDMI out, it should have a few composite inputs on the backside. A cheap sony one can be had for sub $200. If you hook the Wii into the receiver via composite, and the receiver into the TV via HDMI, it will allow you to hook up and play the Wii (and it may upconvert it too, depending on the receiver).

Just a thought, but, how do you have your TV/Monitor hooked up to the Yamaha unit? If your only connection between the receiver the and the TV/Monitor is an HDMI cable, and you are plugging your WII into the front v-aux jack using composite video, the receiver will have no way to send the video signal to the TV/Monitor. The receiver upconverts all composite video and S-video signals to component video signals. This means that if you only have an HDMI connection between the receiver and the TV/Monitor, you will also need to establish a second, component video connection between the receiver and TV/Monitor to handle the upconverted WII video signal. You will probably also need to switch your TV/Monitor to use that input when you are using the WII.

Of course, if you already knew this and have it set up that way, this answer won't help you at all!
