You won't find a specific Micro Br Icon since it is a data transfer connection only.

Try going to "My computer" and it should appear similar to when you plug in a USB stick. It MIGHT have a meaningful name, but it might not.

Can I run my Dell laptop with Vista with the Boss Micro Recorder ? want to play music that is in my laptop

You can use it, but realize that you do all the work on the Micro BR and just download the result to the PC as an MP3 file. The PC treats the device just like a memory stick

Go to bossbr.net - Plenty of answers there! And yes, you have to master or export the tracks to .mp3 or .wav. These files will be located in the mp3 folder. Boss also makes a free .wav converter located on their website.

Turns on doesnt work

I would expect the formatting MUST be done by the unit itself, not formatting on a PC and then installing in this unit.

My os is vista. keeps saying usb connecting. what next?

The autoplay window should have popped up, and then select "Open folder to view files". If not, open file explorer and there should be a drive labled "Boss_BR". The only playable files will be located in the MP3 folder. You have to export your tracks (Using the MBR) as .mp3 or .wav for them to be playable.
