On regular channels and all inputs I get a green plaid screen that use to go away after reseting the tv but now nothing works. I have no issues with the HD channels.

I have this exact issue as well. Tv right at 2 years old and hardly used.

Anyone determine exactly the part that has failed?

Same problem with green plaid screen. TV two years old. HLR5067WX. Is this worth trying to get fixed?

I've had the same problem with my Samsung HLR506W 50" DLP... worked fine for 2.5 years then suddenly one evening I turned it on to get a green (and some blue/purple) plaid screen. Then the screen froze, and the sets controls became unresponsive (including the remote control, however the remote indicator on the set does flash when you press a remote button).

Unplugging the set and plugging back in reset the problem initially, although it would come back in a few minutes time. Playing around I noticed the problem only happened when I had an analog input selected but did not occur when a digital source was selected (i.e. HDMI, PC/VGA Port or "Air" set to a digital channel in HD).

For a while I could leave the "source" set to HDMI and still watch DVD's through my HD player however now the problem seems to have gotten worse and the sets controls will lock up even on a digital source (although NO plaid pattern on those sources, the screen just goes black, then comes back, then goes black again).

Earlier on, when the problem could be reset more easily by plugging/unplugging the set, I also noticed that if on an analog signal like the tuner or a composite input I COULD turn on the TV's menus and I could turn on the TV-GUIDE and they would both display perfectly fine (over-top of the plaid screen, or showing the plaid bad screen in the PIP in the TV-Guide).

I know the power supply is ok, I know the balast/lamp are ok (even when the screen goes blank, the lamp is still running just fine). I know the light engine is ok (color wheel is spinning, menus and digital images show up just fine) and I'm assuming that means the DMD board that controls the DMD is ok too.... I'd think an intermittent problem there would cause different symptoms, i.e. would fail on any input and at random times, or only after it had warmed up good, not from a cold start.

I bought the service manual online and looking at the block diagram and schematics it appears that the analog board does 3 things... it processes all the analog inputs and passes them on to the digital board, it routes power from the power supply board to all other boards in the set, and it processes the all the controls (on-set physical buttons AND remote control input).

From all that I'm assuming that the problem must be the analog board... since initially I had problems with analog signal sources, and digital and/or on-screen menus are fine... plus the fact that when it does fail the controls become unresponsive (and this board processes the controls).

I've found the part at Samsungparts.com for about $231 plus a $50 cash back if you send in your old bad board.

My question... can anyone who has had this problem confirm my suspicions about the "analog board"... my fear is that maybe the digital board has also become involved (since the problem got worse and now it locks up on digital signals too) and/or that the real problem is somehow in the control logic of the set which would be on the digital board itself (a much more expensive component to replace).

I've already unplugged/replugged all the boards in the set to make sure all connectors are seated tightly, especially around the analog board. Also no appreciable dust in the set, no evidence of the set getting hot on the inside.

I've tried to talk to Samsung about the problem, went from tier one tech support to tier two, who gave me a fax-back number of their engineering department and a promise that they would definitely help me out if they could (only to be faxed back with a suggestion that I call 1-800-samsung which is where I started in the first place)... they are unwilling to help out, their goal is that you pay a service center to look at the set. Being an electrical engineer and in a past life having worked as a technician at a service center (not for Samsung specifically) I refuse to pay $100+ for someone to tell me what I already know. Then pay a markup on the part... at that point (given that within the next two years I'll have to buy a replacement bulb) I'm over the point where its worth fixing and I'd be better putting that $500 to $600 towards a new set.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?
(hope my info helps others out too, and if I resolve the problem I'll definitely post my experience on that)

    Thanks

I believe all the problems are in the DM, or digital module, the last one I called on was around 450.00 or 500.00. I sell NEW 50" plasmas For 1250.00, so no one repairs them. Good Luck. I like & sell LG products and have no problems. Ron

Dynex 37 hiss and plaid screen

There are some components that have gone bad in the board. It could also be due to moisture inside. Please do not continue to use it and refer it to a qualified service technician.

Green Plaid lines on Samsung HLR5067wax/xaa-

These are the Tests that should be run to determine which board is bad.You should call a good TV Tech if you are not familiar with this TV.
- The DDP1011 on the DMD board has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- DNle, which is an end port in the digital board, has a feature to display internal test patterns.
- The analog board sends signals to ADV7402 on the digital board.
- The analog board is the first output and the digital board is the second one, followed by DMD, which is the final one.
■ Diagnosis By Module
1. Access Service Mode
(In Standby mode, press "Mute", "1", "8", "2" and "Power" to turn the screen on and enter service mode)
2. Check if there is an error in the DMD board
DDP1011 → TEST PATTERN → Press the right arrow key:
Options of FULL WHITE, BLACK, RED, GREEN and BLUE PATTERN are displayed on the screen.
If "Pattern" does not appear, this is a DMD board error.
3. Check if there is an error in the digital board before the DMD.
When the DMD board has been determined to be error free based on the test patterns:
FACTORY MODE → DNIe → TEST PATTERN normal display: no error in the digital board.
If "Pattern" does not appear, it may be from a DMD board or ATI error or there is an analog board malfunction.
4. Check if there is an error in the analog board.
Check for a power signal from the analog to the digital boards

Green Plaid Screen

Are you able to access the on-screen menus (like brightness/contrast etc)?

If those menus are appearing over the green screen, then it might be a cable or image source problem. I've often seen this green screen when the HDMI encryption between my cable box and my TV gets messed up. Only solution has been to power cycle the cable box.

If you can use something other than an HDMI cable to connect your TV to your picture source, I suggest trying that and seeing if you can get SD channels again. If you do get them back, it was a cable issue. If you still can't get them, contact your cable/satellite provider, see if there's something up with their signal.

Green Plaid then Vertical Lines, Failure of hard controls, Analog Board?

You are absolutely correct, When anyone complains of vertical lines or bars, the next step is to see if it happens on only digital inputs ( digital board ) , only analog inputs ( analog board ) , or both ( DMD board ) .

Analog board can be purchased at www.partstore.com ,

Green Plaid Screen

I think what you are describing is a form of line paring which is caused by a defective IC in the video circuit those inputs are feeding. Post a email link ad I will send a pic of a screen that has this problem and you can let me know if thats what your experiencing.
