Hooking Up The Theatre System to the TV and Cable.

I Have a PANASONIC SA HT680 DVD HOME THEATRE SOUND SYSTEM with the 5 disc. Now i have the theatre system connected to the cable box. I can hear the tv coming through the speakers when it is in Aux but I don't know how to get the dvdscreen to show or to come through the tv. I can place the dvd in the slot and hear everything but i can't get it on the tv. And also how do i connect the tv, theatre system and my cable box together to come through the theatre system so that i can switch from tv to dvd and see it not just hear it through the speakers? I don't know how to look for what mode the dvd player is in. It is not even showing up on the tv at all. It shows a dark screen when i select dvd on the dvd/vcr button on the tv's remote control. Ms Tanya 1/27/08 2:12AM CST.

This means you likeley have your cable box connected correctly, if you have it connected to a standard definition input (AV in or coaxial) make sure the that the dvd player is not in progressive mode.

there is a button labelled 'progressive' on the front of the main unit. between the 'selector' and 'CD Mode' buttons. if the unit's display shows 'prg' press it again to turn it off. Also make sure the unit is not in CD mode (per the troubleshooting section of the manual). I hope this ends up helping you out, I'm just throwing out suggestions here.

Ghosting of picture from a Panasonic home cinema system

There must be a fault in the screening of the internal wiring to the scart outlet in the home theatre system. I simply changed the way the player was connected to the TV and the interference disappeared:-

1.) I used the RCA video outlet instead of the scart lead. Picture quality was not compromised. FYI the Panasonic Plasma TV I have has only RGB video input sockets at the back, so I used a scart to RCA adaptor to overcome this problem of connecting old technology to new.

2.) The surround sound when playing DVDs is generated directly from the home theatre system so there was no need to connect the audio from the home theatre system to the TV

3.) I used a pair of RCA leads to connect the "audio out" from the TV to the "audio in"on the home theatre system to provide the option of TV sound through the home theatre system.

Hooking up audio video to cable box with home theatre

From Cable Box to Input on DVD Player, from DVD Player Out, to TV in, from TV Audio Out to Home Theater Audio In.

That should work.

Will have to have the VCR on to watch cable. Plus make sure that you use A/V cables as much as possible. Coax works ok, but not as good as R/W/Y.

hook all you rca1.gif cables up to the audio/video in from the cable box, tv, and dvd/vcr combo then out to the surround sound youll also need to get some rca cable splitters for the out so you can run it back to the audio/video in to the tv as well as the surround sound here is alink to what they look like
http://www.altex.com/product_info.php?cPath=344&products_id=6201
youll need thre of these of course when hooking it up dont pay attention to the color on these just the ones from the tv and surround sound and thats it your done it will all work if you want it to were you dont have to get up and push a button everytime most of them if you push all the buttons in at one time theyll stay like that

CONNECTING THE PANASONIC SC HT680 TO A SONY TRINITRON COLOR TV AND CABLE BOX

audio/video OUT from the cable box to the aux IN on the panasonic right? So you can see the output from the cable box but only sound from dvd. Are you changing the input on the tv when you go from watching the cable box to watching the DVD? the panasonic handles audio, but the video from each goes to two different inputs on the sony. I hope none of this sounds condescending.

Do not know how to connect the tv, theatre system to the cable box.

have you got the cable box video out (yellow RCA) connected to the video input on the panasonic? What kind of tv is it? Is the tv displaying the input that the panasonic is connected to? If "progressive" is selected, it will not display on a standard definition tv. Does it matter which mode the panasonic is in (CD/DVD)? I guess I'm just asking for more info ;-)
