Unfortunately, I've never seen this error, so I can't give you much help beyond what the code means and the possible solutions that the service manual provides...

SC820:
Self diagnostic error: CPU - Unexpected external error or interrupt occurred.
• Controller board defective
• Software defective

The manual indicates this is a "C" type code, so this should not be displayed on the OP panel, only logged in the SC history in the machine.

this is an older model copier, however try going to www.savin.com and click downloads then drivers. there will be a tab for drivers, this is 10.5 though not snow leopard. Ricoh/Savin/gestetner and Lanier are all the same copier, but savin site has more mac info than Ricoh site. Usually I have better luck using already installed Mac drivers than Gutenprint, if you type in the ip it should give you a list of preinstalled Mac drivers. I believe the Ricoh 1018 corresponds to a Savin 2518 if that helps. Also use print daemon, not ipp. hope this helps somewhat as Macs are difficult with options and such on most printers. also must use PS3 for best results.

Did you format the new drive through the service mode on the copier? As long as the drive is compatible then it should work once you format it.

This is a fuser temperature heating error.
the fuser has not heated up within 5 minutes after switching the copier on.
Most likely cause:

Heater lamp blown
Thermal fuse blown
Faulty power supply
Bad connection to fuser unit

You will need a service technician to fix this.

How about downloading the driver, connecting the machine to a tcp/ip port on your router, setting up an appropriate ip address, and subnet mask on the machine, then creating a new tcp/ip port in the 'add printer wizard' and use the machines ip address,and continue with installation.

It says communication error to control panel at station.

Turn the copier off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on again.

It should go away. If it doesn't a technician needs to come out and look at the problem.

This error requires service support from your local authorized dealer or original point of purchase. You say that you've verified the functionality of your fuser unit; then a authorized Savin printer technician will probably just have to reset the error code of your copier.
