Hi..
I connected my Bose Cinemate system to my 50 inch LG LCDTV with a receiver (vintage Sherwood.)
My newer Sony receiver did not have the audio output ports needed.
Works great.

Hi.
You need to connect the Bose using the Optical Audio output from TV to Bose main unit (kind of square shaped connector), and not using the RCA inputs on TV.
The picture below is an LG back panel, the optical audio connector is at the lower side of I/O connections at the back of TV, on some model the location of connector may be different.
Hi.
You cannot use any adapter.
The optical cable must be purchased separately.
Since the Cinemate has very few connectors, the only thing you can do is connecting monitor out from TV. Connecting the Cinemate to TV inputs is of no use, you need an output.
The only alternative is purchasing an expensive bose control module.
Try the monitor out or any audio output from TV first.
I wanted to add that the Bose Cinematic mark I, like yours (newer ones have optical in) had been designed to connect to TVs that have an analog out (White/Red). Most modern TVs do not have analog audio out, but only optical.
Here a discussion on the topic:

no option on the BOSE cinemate unit to use this type of optical output cable. Also don't have that type of cable. Can I get an adapter and that type of cable at electronics store? system only comes with RSA (red/white) and only has hookups for that type of cable
