System board Hello and thank you for your input. I own a Toshiba Satellite P25-S256 series lap top. My OS stars really slow, it takes about 20 for the comp to boot and load all appications. I took it for an evaluations and I was told it was the systems board or to my knowledge the same as the mother board. I was also told that they had to change the entire board. This will coast me $700 according to them. I was wondering how much is a systems board? how hard is it to install it? novice here !!! would i be better of letting them do it?

You know I was thinking the same when he said it was going to be $700 for a new mother board and service. Considering that when i run it on safe mode if loads with no problem am a bit weird about the whole thing. I do not have the comp with me but they were about 8 icons and yes i have defragged my drive. I also back up all info and set it to factory settings ans still got some problem. For 700 i am considering putting a couple more bucks and getting a new one.

I hate to say your getting scammed but...........

First. Price for service is unreasonable.

Second, Slow boot=new mobo? I am very sceptical about that diagnosis.

A few questions if I may.
Are there more than 6 icons in your system tray?(lower right corner)
Are there any programs in the startup folder? Start/allprograms/startup.
Have you de-fragged the comp in a while?

After that, consider this. Can you get a newer laptop for 700 bucks? OK, not as nice as yours. Isn't it still under warranty?

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Hello, I am trying to fix some of the non working laptops at my Agency. One of them is a Toshiba Satellite a70-s256. At start up, it sounds like the computer is firing up but there is a blank screen.

Its possible that you have a faulty monitor. To isolate or confirm that its the screen, get a VGA cable and plug it into a stand alone monitor. If you see anything then it must be the laptops wiring to the screen or the screen itself.

Thanks!

Toshiba Satellite a70-s256 fan issues

Instead, turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air.
Give your computer a "blow-job", to remove all the dust that has accumulated inside your computer.
The dust has been acting as "insulation", forcing the fans to run faster, and with more noise.

Cooler computer -> quieter computer.
