WHen I run the recovery CD to restore I get a request for a password to allow the image to run. I have no idea what the password is. Can you help?
It may be asking for the bios password ,as the bios may be set to not allow any virus to write to boot sector as does the recovery cd.
can you enter the bios ok.
I think this is a cd you created and the password is the one you created to allow your own files to be written.
I find no way around this except to delete the password and recreate the cd
see the restore cd manual page 2

Ok there are two ways of fixing this.
A. If you know a bit about computer hardware this would help. If you clear the CMOS you have to do this by moving the CMOS jumpers.
B. The simplest way is to take out the battery in the motherbard for about 10 seconds and put it back in. This will reset the motherboard and it should take out that request for the password. I think this password was created in the BIOS. Let's hope this helps you out

Hi
thanks to both. I can access bios ok and no password set. I still removed battery any way but no change. Also checked virus control in bios is disabled an it is.
