My Phil & Teds Vibe shakes in the front wheel uncontrollably. Do I need a new front wheel?

Hi!

Assuming your tyres have the correct pressure, uncontrollable shaking in 3-wheeld swiveling strollers is usually caused by bearing slack.
Please check the front wheel bearing. It should allow the wheel to rotate freely but it should not be loose on the axle. (ie. It should not slide sideways on the axle.)
In this case you would need a new front fork/wheel assembly.

Please let a dealer have a look at it. As the Vibe has not been around for very long, you may still have warranty.

I hope this helps.

Phil and Teds Sport. Front wheel either moves freely and falls off when you tilt the buggy up or clicks on and is locked in a very limited position, rotating little left or right. Any ideas?

First of all, I cannot tell you how frustrating the Phil & Teds instruction manual is. Our's had one half inch square pictures that were supposed to be adequate to learn how to use this. As a general suggest there are fantastic videos posted by a third part (not Phil & Teds) that are worth watching.

After several frustrating hours I can tell you exactly how to fix this:

1. Put on the rear brake
2. Sit on the ground in front of the stroller but sit slightly on one side or the other
3. Lift up the stroller so that you can see the pin that you pull to release the front wheel
4. Pull the pin slowly out about a quarter of an inch
5. You should see that there are actually two metal pins (one large, one tiny)
6. Twist the knob you pulled so that the tiny pin does not line up with the tiny circle on the inside of the knob
7. Let go of the knob

If you did this correctly, you should be able to have the front wheel locked in the swivel position even if you tillt the stroller upwards.

I hope this helps. I also hope that at some point Phil & Teds hires someone to help them with their instruction manuals. They have several clever and humorous language in them, but when the document does not serve its actual purpose the humor just becomes frustrating. For the cost of the stroller, the company should be embarrassed that its users are resorting to these online forums to help each other, although I am happy to do it.

Enjoy!
