Help,
I need to know how to remove a stubborn pin from a watch link so I can shorten the band. I may have stripped the tops of the screws using the wrong tool. Is there hope?

Appreciate any and all creative advice.

You need to push it thru wit a ling "needle type" toolin order to get it out. it has to be strong enough so that it doesn't bend also because it's quite stuck in there pretty good. thats part of the quality you get from a movado.

Shorten the length of a Kenneth Cole "New York" watch band

With the watch on your wrist, check to see how many links need to be removed from your watch. Your watch should fit comfortably on your wrist. Remove the extra links with your paper clip or push pin.To remove the links from your watch, press on the small pins with your tool that are holding the links in place. The watch band should now separate allowing the pin to become free, and you can now remove the pins first and then the links one at a time until you have removed the desired amount of links. Reattach the watch band when you are done removing the links. To reattach the watch band to your watch, simply fit the end links into each other. To complete the resizing, use your push pin to re-insert a joining pin.

Shorten the band on a Mossimo watch

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the watch face down on the cloth. This will help keep your watch from being scratched.

  • 2

Examine the links closest to the buckle. These links will have small pin holes on each side of the link, as well as a small arrow engraved on the inner side of the band. These indicate the direction the pins must be removed.

  • 3

Place the driving tool (a thumbtack will work) inside the pin hole in the band and push the pin out in the direction of the arrow. Remove the pin carefully from the other side.

  • 4

Repeat Step 3 to remove any links needed to adjust the band properly.

  • 5

Reattach the band to the buckle. Attach each end of the buckle back to the bracelet, driving the pin in the opposite direction from how it was removed (opposite the arrow).

How do I adjust the length of the bracelet (watch band) for a Casio EF106D-2AV bracelet watch?

  • Select a clean, flat work surface where you can perform your watch band adjustment. Put down a piece of felt to protect the face of your Casio. Turn on a lamp near your workspace to better illuminate the watch components with which you will be working.
  • Lay your Casio face down on the protective felt. Look for the small arrows on the back of some of the watch links; these arrows indicate the removable watch links and the direction their pins should be removed.
  • Locate the pin hole above the arrow on the removable watch links. Insert the tip of a watch pin removal tool, or push pin, into the pin hole. Apply pressure to the link pin, in the direction indicated by the arrow, to free the pin and remove the link. A pair of needle-nose watch or jewelry pliers can be used to help pull out stubborn link pins. Remove as many links as necessary for your watch to fit perfectly.
  • Reserve the links and link pins that you remove from your Casio Edifice watch. Store the removed watch components in a small, clear, plastic zipper bag. These components can be used when repairing or expanding your Casio watch band.
  • WARNING:Casio recommends that customers have their watch bands sized by an authorized Casio watch dealer. Sizing the band of your Casio Edifice yourself may void the manufacturer's warranty on your watch. Contact Casio customer support for more warranty information.

    Broken Watch band

you probably just need a pin to secure the links back together. an authorized Movado retailer will have the tension or screw pins to put the band back together. They can also order additional links if needed. you can find a local retailer on www.movado.com

    Shorten watchband

I have a similar watch and removing the links are not easy. There are pins in certain links that have arrows on the inside of the band. I used a push pin to remove the pins in the direction of the arrows. Snip the end of the push pin with a wire cutter or pliers so that it fits into the hole and tap the top of the push pin with a small hammer until the other end of the pin is exposed enough to extract it with a set of needle nosed pliers. Repeat for other side of link. When the pin is extracted, twist the link inward and it should snap out.
Remove the link and reverse the procedure, placing the pin in the opposite direction as it was extracted. You may have to tap it gently with the push pin and hammer to get it to go into the holes flush.
It takes a little while and some patience, but if you can get someone to hold the band for you while you tap the pin, it will be easier. Also, if you remove the spring loaded pin from the band fastener so the band can be laid out straight, it will also be easier. Good luck!
