Is there any place I can receive step by step connections instructions
and installations

thanks in advance for any help you can give
Ted
You should use only one connection;
first verify the connection of the printer, if you see 4 pins that is usb connect. if it s 24 pins that is parallel.
Firs you should install first the software: donot connect the printer. the installation prompted you to connect the printer. that is the time that your should connect and power up the printer.
After that follow the screen instruction. your on your way.
thesame thing steps in the parallel connection. just do thesame.
thank may this help.
Note: you should unistall the previous installation of the driver then restart the system and the proceed what im talking.
So are uusing usb cable then go in printer options tell it usb cable not ltp port or parrelel unlesss uuse that port also download the latest software form website dont use cd
1. delete any MD5000 printer entries. *(I had no other printer entries defined)*
2. Use ADD/REMOVE programs to remove the driver.
3. Disconnect printer USB cable (one you bought on EBAY) My laptop has no Parallel port.
4. Reinstall Driver (I am using 2.2.4) specifying not to make it the default printer. For me the 2.2.4 install worked fine.
5. use the add a printer function to manually add the MD5000P. I pointed the install wizard to the 2.2.4 file created by the installation of the driver when it asked if I had a disk. for my computer that was:
C:\Documents and Settings\AMD64\My Documents\My Received Files\MDP224XP
5. after the printer definition was successful , I followed the steps from a
previous message in the ALPS group listed below listed below:
RIGHT CLICK MD5000P ICON, and open properties menu for said printer (this is the one you created manually)
click PORT TAB:
pick a USB port ( virtual printer port) from list *(the install set it to a
port of MD_LPT1 I selected USB001)*
DISABLE bi-directional support RADIO BUTTON,
click ADVANCED TAB:
click PRINT DIRECTLY TO PRINTER radio button,
OPEN PRINT PROCESSOR BUTTON on bottom of page,
from menu select ALMD224S (for print processor)
and DATA TYPE select RAW(FF AUTO).
I plugged the printer in a USB slot and printed test page and a color
photograph.
After this all worked I reset the USB port definition to reselect the bi-directional function. So I do run with the bi-directional mode
Note that Win XP itself will auto create a printer definition using a Microsoft driver "Alps MD-5000P (MS)" if you use this printer to print you will not get any of the ALPS functions.
But this seems to have worked for me.
I hope this helps you. I have only worked with an Alps MD5000 so I have not done this with any other model but the steps I think the steps could still apply because of windows requirements. I have not tried to install the driver on Vista so I do not know if it will work but it might.
Hope this helps.
If any of this is a problem you can contact me and hopefully we can work it out on the phone or chat or whatever
Good Luck
