If the noise is coming from inside the drum then it will be the bear ings if this machine is less than 3years old then this is what bust hotpoint they changed the bearing setup and put a spring on it which its the spring that is the complete failure u need to take the complete drum out strip this put the new bearing set in but without the spring this wil put at least 2-3years on the bearings its a big job and costs about £120 to fix u r accually better off buying a completely different washer no good are hotpoints anymore m8

Had the same problem found it to be one of the struts holding the drum uo,like a shock absorber.take the rear cover of and underneath the drum are two struts,if one,s sagging it will throw the drum against the side causing the banging.
easy fix just unbolt and replace.second hand about ten to fifteen for a pair.
hope this helps.

Loud noise during spin cycle

Open the cabinet top and check along the sides for a broken or out-of-position damper. Shake the mechanism in several directions to help locate. Hope this helps!

The drum seems to bang the side of the machine when starting a spin cycle, the drum also seems to lean over slightly

This is usually caused by an unbalanced load. You will want to stop the machine ASAP when you hear the "banging" noise, and reposition the clothing or towels, whatever you have in the washer at the time, to create a balanced load. If this doesn't help, I would suggest calling a repairman.

Loud banging noise when machine goes into spin mode. sounds like it is banging on the side. Please help !

Usually this is an out-of-balance condition caused by too much weight on one side of the tub, move the clothes around and try again.

Machine banging when in fast spin

or the three legged spider that attaches to the drum. its made of cheap metal and one or more legs can crack or break letting the drum loose - seems like bearing but isn't! cost about £40
