Suddenly, my I'Art large screen TVModel # AV-48WP74 starts giving me fuzzy color and picture. It seems as if the colors are all out of sync; how do I go about trouble shooting the problem?
Unit fine when shut down. Upon repowering a few hours later, the convergence was completely out.
Tried powering down for a few minutes - no help. Tried auto convergence setup - still, not even close. Convergence appears to be normal near center of picture, but the lines grow increasingly apart as one looks to the top or bottom of the screen.Unit fine when shut down. What you most likely have is a convergence problem. The convergence circuitry is used to align your colors. What you describe sounds like that circuit has failed. Here’s a link to a decent video that will give you an idea of what is needed to fix it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esk4nYZKFcg
The convergence ICs and feed resistors need to be replaced. You can get the repair kit for your specific model at the following link. The convergence repair kit contains the replacement parts and the step by step repair proceedure on CD. Very easy repair. Just look under the JVC repair kit category http://www.tvrepairworld.com/

While it is true JVC tubes rarely fail, they can give trouble. Another possible solution is bad screen / focus block...... Remove lower front grill panel and access board...Check for smooth adjustment of RGB screen and focus.....let me know....T..
I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce
