Kenmore dishwasher 58715142400 fills but doesn't wash

My dishwasher just fills with water but doesn't wash. Yesterday, the breaker had tripped while my wife was doing dishes. I flipped it back on and the dishwasher finished. I'm not sure where in the cycle it was. Went to do dishes tonight and the dishwasher just filled with water and never started washing. The heating element works and the tub fills, but then the timer just clicks through with nothing happening.

I had the same problem. Put in a new timer, did not help. Fills with water, the timer turns, but does not wash

We have the same problem, and bought ours in may of 05 too!

Having same problem; dishwasher fills with water (and drains water out) but doesn't wash the dishes (arm apparently doesn't telescope up and swish the water around). The timer clicks through the wash cycle quickly and then seems to go through the heat cycle too long (some items melting that hadn't before). This is for a Kenmore Dishwasher Model # 587 15142400; 3 years old

Motor has gone out..just like mine...Make sure u have voltage going to the motor, (disconnect the plug from the motor) and use an electric meter to make sure you have voltage going to the motor. If so the motor has either gone out or has been blocked by something! If no noise except clicking then motor has gone out. Looking at about $150 for motor.

Breaker at dishwasher trips right after water has filled.Spray arm has not turned.

There is an electrical short circuit, check/reverse the leads going to the pump or heater.. Sounds like controls and water valve are fine. If wires are not connected to the correct locations you need a new motor because it is internal.

Bosch dishwasher makes noise but doesn't start

When you start a wash cycle on your Bosch dishwasher and it does not work, stay calm. It could be something simple, especially if you just installed it. Make sure the power cord is connected properly and a circuit breaker did not trip. How to Troubleshoot Bosch Dishwasher That Doesn Fill With Water

My Kenmore dishwasher 16023 stopped working yesterday. I'm not sure if it stopped working midcycle, because the dishes were not clean when I I took them out and there some water pooled at the bottom....

Firstly be very careful working with electricity.
Try plugging a lamp or similar into the outlet to see if it has power.
If it does sounds like it then has internal problems.
Most older appliances cost more to repair than they are worth. I suggest time to upgrade.

My Kenmore Ultra Wash model 665 Dishwasher stopped working. It won't turn on and some water in the bottom won't drain although there is no sign of a clog, and it's not unplugged.

It is supposed to be hardwired and not plugged in. In which case it could have thrown a breaker and you would not know it unless you used a test light, or reset all the breakers (often you can't visually tell when a breaker it tripped).
There may also a reset on the motor itself that you need to push.

Dishwasher tripped our main circuit breaker.

It may be that your water pump is leaking on to the motor...

Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher

check and see if you are getting ac 110 volts to your water vave when trying to start the unit. if no power check your breakers and /or the incoming power to your dishwasher if they are ok and show 110 voltage coming to the unit then you probably have a control board or touchpad problem which would need a little more detailed check out.
If you do have ac 110 to your water valve then you may just have a bad water valve. Because the washer has to fill first. Hope that helps!!
