Am unable to prime water pump

Water is not being drawn from reservoir into boiler. The valve at the base of the boiler seems to function properly. After repeated attempts, I am unable to prime pump and fill boiler with water.

The stream wand is clear of obstruction. Water does drip out when I turn the steam valve on to prime pump, on but very little. The machine eventually stops and shows the red coffee bean warning light.

  • pjbasser Dec 25, 2009

Yes. There's no blockage of the steam wand. Water is not coming out of the coffee machine or the steam wand.

Have you checked the steam wand end for blockage?

The machine needs manual priming using a hand pump supplied by Saeco. All new machines come with a hand pump.
The pump is available, Whenyou order one, it included instructions for use on the listing display. You download the instructions for manual priming. There is a separate pump for each fully automatic and semiautomatic machine.

Ranchilio Silvia steam not working..

If you're experiencing issues with the steam function on your Rancilio Silvia espresso machine, such as low steam pressure or no steam at all, there are a few possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can take to address the problem:
  1. Check Water Level: Make sure the water reservoir is filled with water to an appropriate level. The steam function requires sufficient water to generate steam.
  2. Purge Air from Boiler: If you're getting low air with no pressure from the steam wand, it's possible that there's air trapped in the boiler. You can try "purging" the air by turning on the steam wand and letting water flow through it until a steady stream of water comes out. This might help remove air pockets from the system.
  3. Steam Wand Blockage: The steam wand could be partially blocked by milk residue or mineral deposits. Clean the steam wand thoroughly using a steam wand brush and ensure that the tip is clear.
  4. Vent Valve: The vent valve on the top of the steam wand might be clogged. Try removing the valve and cleaning it to ensure proper steam flow.
  5. Boiler Pressure: Low steam pressure could be a result of inadequate boiler pressure. Check the pressure gauge on the machine to ensure that the boiler pressure is within the recommended range. If the pressure is too low, you might need to adjust the pressure settings (if your machine allows for it) or seek professional assistance.
  6. Steam Valve: The steam valve might be worn or malfunctioning, preventing proper steam flow. If the steam valve is not functioning as it should, it might need to be repaired or replaced.
  7. Boiler Heating Element: If the heating element in the boiler is not functioning correctly, it could lead to low steam pressure. Check for any signs of damage or malfunction in the heating element.
  8. Professional Service: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be best to seek the assistance of a professional espresso machine technician. They can diagnose the problem accurately and perform any necessary repairs.
Remember that working on espresso machines involves potentially hazardous components and high-pressure systems. If you're not comfortable with any of the steps or if the issue seems complex, seeking professional assistance is recommended to ensure your safety and prevent further damage to the machine.

My Saeco Incanto Sirius machine keeps asking for yet another VENTILATE cycle

This means the water cannot flow through the machine. Normal fix is to prime the machine (turn water dispenser on, fill a cup) or descale the machine. Go through the menu, select descale, enter, then turn the steam knob fully anti-clockwise. You should put the descaling solution in the water tank first.
If you have the auto-descale in the menu then run it. Run the solution through the machine twice. Then rinse well.

Hobart Ecomax 652. There was a voltage jump after switching on, the water did not collect, there were no errors. I replaced the inlet valve, it did not help. then the message BOF. Help please

The BOF message on a Hobart Ecomax 652 dishwasher indicates a "boiler filling" issue, which means the dishwasher is unable to fill the boiler with water. Here are some things you can try:
  1. Check the water supply: Make sure that the water supply to the dishwasher is turned on and there is enough water pressure. If there is low water pressure, it may cause the BOF message.
  2. Check the water inlet valve: If the water inlet valve is not functioning properly, the dishwasher may not be able to fill the boiler with water. Make sure that the inlet valve is not clogged and is getting power.
  3. Check the level probe: The level probe detects the water level in the dishwasher. If it is not working properly, the dishwasher may not be able to fill the boiler with water. Check the probe to ensure it is clean and in good condition.
  4. Check the boiler: The BOF message may also indicate a problem with the boiler itself. Check the boiler to see if there is any damage or blockage.
If these steps do not solve the issue, it may be best to contact a professional technician to diagnose and fix the problem.

My unit says prime and no outflow.

"Prime" usually indicates the pump is sucking air. Sometimes the valve in the bottom of the water reservoir gets stiff or gunked up; if you turn off the B60, remove the water container and drip some water into the water intake until it's full, turn the unit back on, replace the water reservoir and that little amount of extra water should be enough to allow the pump to work properly.

Saeco sg200 vending machine LED says no water .I changed the flow meter but no luck what do i ttry next

Unlike older-generation Saeco machines, the SG200 has an LCD display without LEDs. If you really have an SG200 with a "no water" alarm, try cycling the power and listen for water pump noise upon start-up. If no pump noise, check if reservoir is full, to determine which of the two water pumps is failing (the one in the base cabinet or the one that moves water from the reservoir to the boiler)- GT

Replacing the pipe unit

Here's how it works....
An initial short run of the pump draws water from the reservoir into the boiler where it is heated by an electrical heating coil. There are two outputs from the boiler, one from the top runs through a pipe to a steam valve. When the steamer handle is turned, the steam valve opens and steam is piped out through the steam tube for frothing milk. The second output from the boiler is on the underside and is stopped by the normally closed flow valve. When the water in the boiler reaches the right temperature, a sensor switches on the OK light. When the light is on, the user pushes the pump switch and more water is pumped from the reservoir. The pressure in the boiler increases because the pump is trying to push in more water and this forces the spring loaded boiler flow valve to open allowing hot water to run out. As the sump filled with ground coffee is fitted to the boiler output, the water is forced through the coffee and out of the sump where it pours into a waiting cup.
When enough coffee has been poured, the user switches off the pump. The boiler pressure falls and the spring on the flow valve pushes the valve shut again.
------------ The first three steps aren't strictly necessary for disassembly however if you're using a long handle screwdriver then removing the base makes it easier to gain better access to some of the screws.
Step 1. Remove the screw on each base arm.
Step 2. ... then lift and remove the arms.
Step 3. Remove the two screws on the base of the unit. Unlike in this photo I would recommend you avoid resting the machine on its back unless you are sure it has been completely drained. The black plastic base can now be pulled away allowing easier access to some of the screws that will be removed later.
Step 4. Undo the two screws on the top rear.
Step 5. Remove the coffee tamper by pulling and twisting.
Step 6. Remove the three screws. These are anti tamper screws and are star shaped with a nipple in the middle.
Step 7. With these screws removed, the top may be lifted away. The hotplate on the top section is still connected by a couple of thin wires so lift it carefully.
Step 8. To help with shifting the top out of the way, disconnect the hot plate/boiler heater connection. This will allow you to push the top of the unit away giving you the room you need to get inside.
Step 9. Unscrew the electrical safety earth and move the earth wiring out of the way.
Step 10. Use some long nose pliers to pull out the circlip that holds the boiler inlet pipe in place. Pull out the pipe to disconnect it from the boiler once the circlip has been removed.Step 11. Unscrew, remove and clean the diffuser.
Step 12. Remove the two screws . The black plastic underside casing can now be pulled away (plastic tabs need to be pushed aside ). Step 13. Pulling away the plastic underside once screws and tabs are removed.
Step 14. Loosen the four black Torx (star shaped) boiler screws . Water in the boiler may leak out at this point so ensure the unit is upright and a towel is placed underneath.
Step 15. Remove the four nuts (three arrowed) from the underside of the boiler unit.
Step 16. Lift up the top of the boiler assembly along with the steam outlet and place to one side. The two halves of the boiler assembly are sealed with a rubber gasket which should remain attached to the upper housing. Make sure this is properly in place when reassembling.
Step 17. The lower boiler assembly can now be lifted out.

Water not pumping through, though steamer works and it makes noise.

You need to get the pump "primed" with water going through it.

If the machine is new or has not been used in a long time, the plastic feed tube(s) in the reservoir will be dry. You have to get the water to slowly creep up these tubes until it hits the pump inside, then the water/steam will come out the head and will keep coming out each time you use it until it dries out again.

I've had to re-prime my Via Veneto several times, and each time it seems like I'm doing it wrong and the machine is broken. But follow these steps and you'll get there.

1. Fill the reservoir with water and put the two tubes in it.
2. Turn on the boiler button (left-most of the two narrow ones)
3. Don't put the portafilter on, just leave the head bare.
4. Turn on the pump and let it run. Watch the water level in the plastic tubes. Understand that at this point, the pump is just pumping air, which it is not designed to do efficiently. As it pumps the air it slowly draws water up the tubes. Really slowly.
5. You can speed this up by putting a cup under the steam tube and opening the steam valve. This is while the brewing pump is still on. You will have hot water squirting out of the steam tube. You may see the water moving more quickly up the tubes.
6. The pump may have to run for several minutes. You'll get impatient and scared something is wrong, but just let it run. You'll see the water creep up the tube and go into the unit. Soon afterward pressurized water will start spraying out of the head.

Now, keep it primed for months by keeping water in the reservoir. If you use it only infrequently, run the pump and at least get some water moving every week or so.

I've tried silly things like holding the tubes upside down, trying to get water forced up into them, but in the end, just let the pump do the work and be patient.

Priming problem

Make sure you try to prime right when the machine is turned on, so that there is no boiler pressure making it more difficult to prime.
