its your mobile software problem! some nokia mobile have these issues! go to any mobile repairing shop for the software!

press *#7370# and do a master reset.If this doesn't solve your problem,you may need to replace the ribbon under the display.or replace the display.but in most cases it is the ribbon.If you do not have any technical knowledge regarding with repairing phones and such electronic stuff,please take it to a nokia service center or to a skilled person.

For some nokia mobiles you cannot reduce the brightness of the screen. They have the default brightness settings only.

it may be mother board problem or else the scree going to be damaged did you drop down the mobile so just check with ur service provider

It is not a common problem. It seems that either the connection to the LCD is broken somewhere, or the LCD is going or the display IC has gone. It it is the last (display IC) then the phone has to be thrown away as even Nokia thinks it beyond economic repairs. Earlier two can be rectified by Nokia Care.

I had the same problem with my girlfriends 6111. I managed to fix the phone, but i did have to open it up myself and get a new ribbon cable to replace the damanged one. Basically one of the springs had been pushed the wrong way and this was acting like a scissor action on the ribbon cable for the screen. It cuts part of the cable so no image can be seen but power is still sent, thats why it only powers up white. Doing this yourself will void the warrenty but the warrenty on this phone had expired and i was being quoted £35-£40 to get it fixed. I managed to do it for a fraction of the cost!!!
