The machine will start a cycle normally, but after the timer reaches a certain point it stops counting down and the machine will continue to agitate until you force it to stop.

Can you confirm your machine model number? If it's a FAV6800A LED display or FAV9800A LCD display do you take any error codes to the display?

Thank you for verifying the model type so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A questions in this forum machine specific topic area.

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

You will need the Service Manual for support. I’m an owner like you with a solid repair skills on the machine and will try to help you DIY the repair if we can ID the issue through troubleshooting.

Do you have this condition in all wash cycles? Will a Quick Wash cycle complete? Do you see the Cycle Status LED ever indicate the machine has moved to the Spin Cycle during the wash cycle? This could be a Control Board failure but we need to troubleshoot.

I want to make sure the Wash basket will spin up with a Spin Only cycle selection. Can you select a Spin Only cycle with a empty wash basket. I would release the washer top so you can observe this test. I want to rule out a broken Clutch large wrap spring.

Page 33 of the Service Manual will show you how to release the washer top from the base. In Spin Only cycle raise the top just enough to make sure the wash basket is rotating Counter Clock Wise – CCW with the Spin Only cycle selected and operated.

If the above test doesn’t indicate an issue I would like you to try the Quick Service Cycle test on page 15 of the Service Manual and see if your FAV6800A will pass that test with no clothes in the washer. When you put the machine in Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys until the machine beeps and the LED display reads 00. Then press Wash/Rinse Temp to start Quick Service Cycle test. Did the test complete with a PA indication in the display? It will only display the PA code for a few seconds. End of cycle will beep washer will unlock and Cycle Status LED will indicate complete.

Waiting for your reply….Rich

Can you start a new problem with your FAV6800A. I will try to help. So you take no error code. If you go into a Spin Only Cycle and you raise the washer top from the base your wash basket dose not spin CCW and there are no error is that correct?

With the washer top raised from the base can you rotate the wash tub CCW by hand. It should only take your pinky finger to rotate the wash basket CCW. That will tell me if there is some binding in the drive system. The wash basket should not rotate CW.

I have to leave for work soon 4pm to 12:30am. Will try to log on during my lunch break.

I will try to get ya going we need to troubleshoot a bit deeper....Rich

Can you rotate the wash basket CCW by hand it should turn freely this is the spin cycle direction do this thru the washer lid. You should be able to rotate the wash basket Counter Clock Wise with very slight resistance. What are the results?

If you raise the washer top from the washer base and start a Spin only cycle the tumblers should rotate only a several degrees while the large wrap spring in the clutch comes to tension. Once at tension the wash basket will begin to rotate CCW. It sounds like this does not happen. You see 48 in the LED display which is the motor RPM in the Clock Wise direction The CW motor direction is the wash/agitate direction.

I would remove power from the machine and then remove the front cover of the machine and see if you can rotate the Clutch Pulley by hand in both CCW spin direction and CW wash/agitate direction by hand. This will ensure we have no binding in the system.

Here is a pic with the front cover removed the Motor Controller is to the left of the motor.

Pic of the Motor with drive belt removed.

With the front cover off start a Spin Only Cycle

In Spin Cycle the Control Board will signal the Motor Controller to power the Washer Motor in the CCW direction (spin direction) to drive the Clutch Pulley in the CCW direction. Do you see this take place?

If there is no binding taking place with the Motor, Clutch Pulley in the CCW direction then I feel we have a failure that may be difficult to troubleshoot without known good parts including the Control Board, the Motor Controller and Motor.

Identical problem here. Will not spin with lid open. The disks start to move for a second then stop. The tub does not spin. Any thoughts.
Thanks

Bosch washing machine starts filling with water, then does nothing, timer counts down but no movment

have a technician check it out as it may be a board problem
normally the fill level switch ,when the set water level is reached activates 2 things
it stops the water in and at the same time moves the program on to start the wash cycle
so it is either that switch or the program board

11 year old Kenmore washer fills then stops.

in the machine under the front control panel will be a module that controls the wash agitation. Have it checked out as they fail . There is no connection between the timer and this unit as it comes in to play when the water reaches a set level. The timer just keeps working through the cycles believing the washer is agitating.

Compressor UP6 25 125, runs all the time but is only under load for a short time, should it shut down between loads?

This unit will shut down if unloaded for a set period of time. Usually 5 to 10 minutes. This time could be longer if some one has changed it from the factory setting. There is a timer in the control box that starts counting down when the unit unloads. If it stays unloaded long enough for the timer to count down the unit will stop until the air pressure drops to the low set point on the pressure switch. It will then start up. If the unit loads before the counter counts down the timer starts from the beginning when it unloads again. This cycle continues until you manually shut it down or you stop using air long enough for the timer to reach Zero and shut down.

It fills and agitates. Fills up then stops, makes a buzzing noise and will not drain or spin. What could be wrong?

in order to accurately diagnose this i will need the model number, but it could be that your lid switch is faulty, therefore not allowing your washer to go into a spin cycle. for safety reasons. another cause of this could be from a bad timer, if your timer stops after the agitation cycle and does not continue to count down then you have a bad timer.

Spin Cycle

I just replaced my second motor control board because of the same problem. Mine starts to spin but never reaches speed and stops, then it repeats. It can do this for hours. I think we are overloading the machine washing area rugs. The fuses are OK on both failed boards and nothing is burned and all caps look normal. At $150 a pop, I would rather replace some components if I knew which ones. For a quick fix, the new board worked for me.
