Might just have something wrong with the connection itself, were is your Xbox located? If it is in a obstructed place far from the router this could affect it

This is a common problem it is most likely a scratch but you may want to try wiping the disc down with a piece of cloth, or it could just be some corrupted data on the disc so you may just need to buy a new one
If this happens online and only on a particular disc Ibelieve that this is not a problem with your Xbox 360 console, it might be the game server for COD MW2 or due to your internet connection which might be having some unstable connection to MW2 server. If Gears is working smoothly you should not be bothered having your console getting RROD.
the person that set up xbox live will know info you looking for and is your xbox set up for children as it wont play as it is an adult game,change your console settings for any game to play.Hope this helps you get mw2 working as it is an awsome game online
