My sony KV32HS420 timer button blinks and tv wont go on. how do i re-set

One of two things...first hold power button while you hold the up button on your remote, this will reset your tv to manufacturer's settings....you could have sleep timer on.....if this does not work, you have to replace the lamp, my tv did the same thing and it happened to be the lamp. watch to see if power light blinks a specific number of times when set does not come on--it is an error code.

the problem is a horizontal deflection source
it could be a shorted horizontal out put transistor
also causing the transistor to overheat and go short is the flyback transformer

if your tv is blinking you are still okay but your set needs service, maybe some board or circut is defective. this happens with panasonics, they have a blink timer. they blink a certain number of times. this blinking feature is called safety mode, you find the part that is fualty according to the number of blinks, you can find out what fualty part is cuasing the tv not to go on by downloading a service manual in pdf format or finding the blink codes, how many times does it blink count it carefully i may have a manual here and maybe can tell you what to replace.

I have a 60" Sony Wega LCD projection...not sure if it will work for your model, but ours would not turn on this morning and was blinking the 3 light error code. Which indicated that the lamp cover was not on. The lamp cover was on, but when you remove the lamp cover there is a small metal piece below where the screw goes to tighten the cover on. That piece needs to be pushed in so the sensor will not go off. This saved us potentially many hundreds of $$ in calling a repair person which is what all forums and threads suggested we do. Depends on how many times it blinks,just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

There are several faults that can cause this. Shorted diodes in the high voltage, a bad flyback transformer, a shorted CRT driver IC. None of them are very easy to fix.

tv wont turn on when i hit power it makes the clicking noise like it is going to turn on, but never does and the red timer light next to the power button just flashes.

Well, I have found out that the number of red light blinks is a "blink code" that indicates the nature of the fault with the TV. Usually these are various failures of internal fuses or circuit boards. There's a fair amount of information on threads at techlore.com on this, so try searching there. Teh specific codes and manuals are usually it seems under license from Sony and not available for free to the public. Sorry!
