How do i make a recovery disk for the vaio vgc-ra830g pc?

  • justfaces Dec 25, 2009

Previously I had a problem with a VGC-RA830G Sony Vaio which locked up while I was playing a game. Your suggestion was to unplug the CPU, clean out any dust and give it 1/2 hour. I did all of this and it worked. Unfortunately, the situation has occured again, after I upgraded to Explore 7 (?) and had to reboot the system. The VAIO image will pop up ad if I hit the F10 button , the blue screen will come up and tell me the hard drives are ok , but the C-MOS is "wrong". the icons on the dest top will pop up after about tem minutes. any ideas?

Hello again,

Sony sells the recovery media if you require it.
https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/categorySearch.do?operation=subCategorySearch&subCategory=109&category=3&subCategoryName=Recovery%20CD&categoryName=Computer

if the link doesn't work copy it completely to your addressbar and press enter.

If your machine works and you can use it, and you have the original stuff from sony still installed then you can most likely find the vaio recovery from your start menu.

1. close all extra programs that you don't need.
2. disconnect your internet
3. disconnect printers and other extra devices
4. From the Vaio Recovery wizard appliaction, in the vaio recovery window, under media nad recovery options, click to select Create recovery media kit.
5. click the next button
6. You have two choises for recovery media either one recordable CD and two recordable DVD's

OR

10 recordable CD's.

Could you clarify what do you mean with CMOS is Wrong?

10minutes for the start up sounds like you either have very low amount of ram in the computer and too many programs compared to that, or you might need to restore or do a fresh install to solve that issue.

I NEED THE RECOVERY SYSTEM DISKS

The operating system is normally stored within a hidden partition on the hard disk and if you do not have the recovery disk(s) you should be able to purchase a replacement set from the manufacturer.

Trying to use recovery disk for VGC-RB34G PC. Disk 1 will not start. Properties show it full but unknown file type. Disk 2 appears to be ok but will not operate without disk 1. How do I get factory...

Sometimes manufacturers use proprietary software to start their recovery disks and that perhaps is why the file type is unknown. You say that it will not start. Are you trying to run it from within windows or at start up. All of the recovery disks that I have worked with have to be started from the boot up. The computer has to be set to start up from CD. Try that and let us know what happens.
If you need help getting the computer to start from cd let us know and we will help you.
