Connect your laptop up to an external monitor. If you get a picture on the external monitor then you know that your Chip is fine. At that point You will need to replace the screen.

HP pavillion dv9000 screen went dead -- black

Due to the overheating issues with the dv9000's it's more than likely the motherboard has gone bye bye. You can try plugging your laptop to a regular desktop monitor to see if it's the screen; but you would have heard it chime on if that was the case. Unless you had your volume muted before the incident. Try checking the RAM (one by one), then remove the hard drive and see if you see any graphics. If none of those work, prepare for a dv9000 funeral or punt!

Hp pavillion dv9000 lcd screen changes colour when moved

The inverter is to change the volts from the laptop to the Backlight. This wont have anything to do with it.
Im more than certian it will be the LCD cable. Proberly loose or torn at where the lid closes.
Hope this helps.

My hp pavillion dv9000 it has a black screen has power but screen won't come on. It comes on with the power on but the screen is still black

If you can hear the fan and see HDD activity on the fron tof the unit but cannot see any picture, then most likely you have had a motherboard failure at the graphics/video chip. Try attaching the laptop to an external monitor and see if you get a picture on it. If you can, then you may have only lost the screen and the motehrboard is fine. If not, then the motherboard will have to be fixed or replaced.
