I have a Caravelle Bulova watch #48G33 and I need to change the battery. I took it to a jeweler and he mess up the back and told me he did not have a battery that fit. I think he was unable to get the back off. Does the back pop off or screw off?What size battery will I need. Thanks Pat

take it to MACYs and say , can you pop in a new battery.
or any watch repair shop, can.
this is very old cheap watch and manuals are not easy to find.

Patsy, S8821577 was not found to be valid #. Best to take your watch into a good jeweler and have them match the battery and install for you. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

How do I remove the back of my Bulova Accutron 98E09 watch to replace the battery?

mcdevito75 here, You will need a screwdriver to use in the slot for the battery cover or a coin, once you have the tool for the slot turn the cover just a bit and lift it off to get to the battery.

You will likely need to go to a jeweler that carries Bulova or Citizen (now owned by the same company) as most after market parts are only available to retailers. Also, you may want to check for a used or broken one on EBAY or somewhere, then you can replace the links inexpensively.

Hey there !
if the back has a notch on the top left of the cover (right underneath to what would be 10'oclock position), it is a 'Pop-up'. But if the watch has 6-8 notches on the back plate of the watch its a screw-off.
Its really hard to say what battery size it would take due to the fact that each watch has a different operating mechanism and its hard to determine that from the model number.
