There is a little device inside the washer that allows the agitator to spin independent of the drum. If this gets stuck, the washer will try to spin the whole drum instead of just the agitator. This will cause the washer to think the load is too large or out of balance, causing the error code. On some Whirlpools this device is just a washer.
Thank you for submitting your question concerning your Frigidaire front load washer, ATF6000ES. Typically if your washer is making a banging noise it could mean one or two problems, but primarily the tub is off balance or your washer is not level. In this regard, since the tub is spinning it would be advisable to reach out to a local service provider to properly diagnose your washer. You can often locate a qualified tech through the manufacturer website.
This is usually due to the floor not being perfectly level, and as a consequence the washing machine not standing firmly on all 4 supports. There should be at least 2 adjustable feet under the machine, try to make it stand as level as possible, with uniform load on all four. If you have a bubble level it may help you establish, if there's an obvious slope on your floor and adjust the machine so that it's well levelled. Good luck!
Try leveling the washer... If the washer is level, then don't wrap the clothes around the agitator...drop the clothes straight in, on top of each other evenly around the agitator. The Ensignia washer has a Dual action agitator... That means the clothes roll over them selves, instead of moving side to side, as with a traditional agitator. wrapping the clothes around the agitator will cause the load to be un balanced and then cause the "banging" noise... this should take care of the problem...
