Just fixed this problem on my sons 360. orange light on power supply but unit would not switch on. found problem was poor design of front usb ports. they had folded and earthed them selves out. made sure they were not touching outside connectors and hey presto unit started.
If the light on the power brick stays orange after turning the console on it means the brick is not properly functioning. You can attempt to clean the power brick with a can of air. Also make sure it has ventilation and is not sitting on carpet. This can cause the power brick itself to overheat and cause issues with it and the console itself. Also make sure your 360 is not plugger into a surge suppressor as this can cause issue due to double protection.
If possible, test the power brick on a different console, and test the console on a different power brick. This will narrow down your problem area.
Hello there
From what you have said it sounds like you have the RROD - 3 LIGHTS
The main causes are Hardware failure, overheating or wear & tear.
You may need to perform simple maintenance, clean or in some cases adjust settings.
To get the best advice on where to start I recommend a GOOD REPAIR GUIDE, From this you can fix the problem at home and avoid any large repair bills. Its easier than it sounds when you have help from the guide.
I used Gamer Fix to get the best guides
The other solution would be to send the console off to its manufacturer, This is free if your still in warranty. If your console is out of warranty then the usual price of repair is $150
I am Glad I could help and You can help others by rating this Post or leaving a comment.
Many thanks
