Music will play but train will not move or do any other function

FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT I'm not a professional train builder .. but i am an old kid a heart and i've had electric trains at Christmas all my life. as far as track is concerned it shouldn't make any difference how much track you have... the electricity remains constant in the tracks and is only expended at the point where the train contacts it .. a poor connected track can cause a slow down or stoppage so if it happens again check individual track pieces for a poor connection, dirt, corrosion, loose connections where the tracks slide together .. it's probably a loose track connector that happens a LOT you can run a jump wire across a loose track connection (if you know how) .. don't use pliers to crimp them that only makes it worse .. i've made that mistake. you can get into trouble by adding too many additional powered items like another train or another electric station beyond what it came with.. when you do that you can stress the transformer.. in which case buy another transformer for all your stations and only use your original stuff with the old transformer... but yeah have fun with it string as much track as you want.. Is the track properly and carefully put together? Is one or more sections damaged take one of the cars and gently push it around watching in those places where the train derails. If it only happens at a track joint look at it more carefully.

My Lego passenger train 7938 has been put together but the wheels will not move I have triple checked all the connections

Have you tried keep pressing the right hand button down. When you press the button down and hold the press, then the sounds are finished, the trains starts driving. When you release the button the train stops at once.

I cannot promise that this is the problem, but this is where mine was broken, and you may be able to fix yours this way.

I was able to remove the plastic around the tender and access the motor. Using alligator clips, I was able to connect the battery directly to the motor, bypassing the circuit board. The motor functioned, therefore the only component that seemed to be defective was the circuit board, located behind the speaker in the engine unit.

As far as I know, the only place to buy a replacement circuit board is from www.tigerimports.com. Search for part number MEVA0024. Cost is around $15 + shipping (around $6 or so).

I should be receiving this part by the end of the week and will report if it fixed the problem.

The red button on the right must be held down for anything to move. It turns the lights on, makes some train noises, then moves forward. If you don't hold the button down, nothing will happen. Note that when the train is underway, the left red button becomes a train whistle. Otherwise, when the train is not running, that left button produces music. Hope this helps.
