NiMH is a universal replacement battery. It will work in place of nicad and other types of rechargeable batteries, and will work with virtually any charger
Testimonial: "I hope that you are right as Philips told me that their battery was not compatible with my phone. "
NiMH cordless phone batteries are a direct replacement for NiCad batteries. Both are 1.2 volts per cell, e.g. three cells=3.6 volts, etc. Often NiCads are not really "worn out", but are only suffering from "NiCad memory effect", usually caused by being continually left on the charger and never being fully discharged, and can be brought back to "life" by repeated deep discharge/charge cycles. NiMH cells do not have that "memory" problem and can be continually left on the charger.

NiMH battery packs can be used to operate equipment originally intended for use with NiCd battery packs. However, it is advisable to use a charger specially designed for NiMH batteries. With NiMH batteries, the fully charged state is harder to detect, and a NiCd charger may continue charging until overheating damages the battery. This is probably why Philips have discouraged replacement of a NiCd battery with a NiMH battery.
With NiMH batteries, it is best to use a charger designed to charge them safely. If you must use the original NiCd charger, check the battery pack frequently and stop charging when it becomes hot.
