Click On Start Button, Click On My Computer.. Look Under C Drive Icon, Under The CD/DVD Icon... You Should See Video Device/or WebCam Icon There.... Double Click That Icon To Access The Webcam.

Also Check The Control Panel To See If It Has A Webcam Control Icon There....

uninstall driver then do a hardware refresh. reboot after install.

i have y500 laptop.i had da same problem.i took out da cd drive n cleaned da lens.now its working perfectly fine like a new cd drive..

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP device drivers for your model laptop,

After you download the driver file, click on this file and it will unzip/expand the drivers and copies these files to the hard drive in c:\drivers\... take a note of the folder it has created to store the driver files and then go to this folder and run the SETUP file to install the driver.

since you have formatted your laptop you have erased all the drivers especially the camera driver for your laptop you will need to get a new driver for the camera but if you laptop came with a disc you will need to check if the drivers are available in the disc.
