I can hear sound only out of the right ear. Sometimes this works for me: I play some music and open the master volume control and click on the slider bar that raises the computer volume, A loud beep is played and it seems to clear the line or gets it connected better. Both sides work. Then I close the music and open the game I want to play and it works. But sometimes this doesn't work and is a real pain. I'd like to know a better solution.

    Thanks.

not sure how to switch it on or off

  • Anonymous Apr 01, 2009

It is April 01; I bought this headset not even 12 hours ago and I can't hear anything out of the left ear. I seriously doubt I had been able to break it seeing as how it was working this morning when I left. But I cannot hear anything. I tried re-connecting it and I checked for breaks along the cord. What could be happening?

It's less common for one of the speakers to go bad in a set of headphones. It's possible - but there are more common problems that will cause this. I assume you have tried the headphones on another device to rule our a problem with the device you are currently listening with and using the other device, you still only hear audio from the left speaker.

The wires in the cord that connect the plug to the headphones are very thin and are susceptible to breaking. The most commmon place for these wires to break is at the point where the cord is flexed or stressed the most. Those points are:

1. Right at the plug
2. Where the wire enters into the left and right speaker.

There are occasions where I have seen the wires become unsoldered from the speaker terminals within the headphones themself.

What You Can Do:

1. While listening with the headphones, try flexing the cord back & forth at the plug and where the wire goes into the right speaker. See if the audio will come back and cut out again.

2. What I have done is cut the cord about 3" back from the plug. Go to Radio Shack and purchase a new plug and install a new plug on the cord.

3. You can also take the headphones apart and cut a few inches off the cord where it connects to the right speaker and reconnect the new end of the wire to the right speaker. The goal is to cut away the bad part of the cord and re-attach the good part back.

4. You can try to replace the entire cord but I haven't been able to find replacement (THIN) cords too easily.

Good Luck,

- Jim

OK, you will need super glue:

Bend the wire next to the stiffener wire thing need the headset, once you bend it against it, test the sound, if the sound returns, super glue it to the position it is at

Toshiiba satellite p205 Internal Harmon Kardon Speakers Do Not Work

Most likely its a nardware problem.
If Device manager shows the audio driver is working and enabled and when you plug an headphone into the headphone/audio out and you only get sound from the right headphone then the audio amp chip is faulty.
If the headphone sounds OK then the easiest solution is to connect a set of powered speakers to your laptop.

Hello, Could you please assist me on steps of switching speakers on my HP probook 4520s I friend on skype could see me, but still couldn`t hear. Waiting for your fast reply to my issue Thanks in...

sounds like you have built in speakers for your laptop?
you can try plugging in headphones in to the headphone jack on your laptop to see if you can hear any sound.
if you do then you can purchase a 2 speaker set from walmart or any electronics store and hook that up to your laptop for sound.

I have a new tablet pc with windows 7. When I insert my headphone the sound go both by headphone both by pc speaker...How can I disable from speaker? It is not so automatcally! Thanks

Hello
Go to control panel in win 7.Then find sound.

Open sound icon, click on speakers then configure. There should be a option to choose headphones.

If this does not work you may need to choose the properties tab then levels, then at the top your sound device should be listed. Click on the small speaker icon and mute the speakers.

Hope this was helpfull

I can't hear any sound on my verizon wireless razzle phone. It just stopped working after i plugged in headphones what is wrong with my phone?

I had this very same thing happen to me yesterday after listening to music with my headphones. After unplugging them, the speaker would no longer work nor the speakerphone.

After trying many things without success, I was finally able to resolve this by plugging back in the headphone cable and pushing the jack around a little bit to the side until I could hear sound.

I did this while trying to place an MP3 just to make it easier. So far this has worked fine. But now I am reluctant to use the headphones any more.
I know your post was several months ago so this may or may not be helpful.

Only hearing sound out of left side of headphones

i think the problem is in the jack of your sound blaster. since you have already tried different headphones and the problem still persist, and when you use speakers it works fine. i conclude it is the jack of your sound blaster card.

I have also had the same problem, and I discovered that it may be caused by a little sensor in the headphone jack which enables the external speaker. Sometimes it gets stuck in the "off" position. Try plugging in and removing the headphones, that should solve the problem.
