I have 2 ipods, a black 2 gb nano and a 30 gb ipod. The 2 gb ipod connects fine with my computer and syncs but when I connect my 30 gb ipod to my computer it doesn't respond at all! It doesn't even charge. Any ideas? Should I take my ipod in to get fixed?
If nobody has figured out this problem or if anybody else is having the same problem I have a solution that could possibly work. I had the same problem so I right clicked My Computer and went to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers look for anything that may have a yellow exclamation point. Mine said something like Apple Ipod Driver or something along those lines. Right click that and click Update Driver... Then click Next and it should update it for you and work fine. Hopefully this will help anybody that is having this problem.
My 30 gig ipod also used to make a noise when pluggged in. windows and itunes dont see it. I wonder if it was a software update down the road that caused this issue. my 3 gig mini works fine but whats 3 gigs. I only used this 30gig like 11 times before its no longer detected. I removed itunes and reinstalled. I even wiped all the songs and folders and started over. I wonder if there is a way to format the ipod itself and start over. The only thing i can think of is itunes 7.6.2 has issues and they need to updatee to itunes 8.0
No its not the iPod it might be that the i tunes cant recognizes it take it to another computer with iTunes and see if it recognizes it

Mine just went out on me too - a week after my warranty expired, go figure. I've changed USB cords and downloaded the newest version of iTunes, but it still doesn't show up on my computer or iTunes. The only way I can charge it is with my car charger, the wall adapter with the new USB cable gets no reaction. I'm so frustrated, I'm ready to smash this thing. Apple was no help since my warranty expired. Someone please help!!!
