What processor and where can I get one?

This 'notebook' was shipped with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 CPU, See http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/IdentifyPart.pl There are three variants. This CPU is "probably upgradeable" according to the FAQ in the pages linked to from my ref.
The HP webpage for this model is Compaq Presario V6642EM Notebook PC Product Information and the specifications (linked to from that page) are here Compaq Presario V6642EM Media Center Notebook PC Product Specifications
The maintenance & service Guide might tell you which, if any, other CPUs can be fitted.
HP say follow the following steps to determine which CPUs are available for your PC HP and Compaq Desktop PCs Upgrading or Replacing the Processor but I don't hold out much hope as to determining the m/b type.
Incidendentally this model can accept up yo 2 x 1GB RAM

2.6 volt ram

For the Compaq Presario SR1920NX?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3184154

Product information > Product specifications > Compaq Presario SR1920NX Desktop PC Product Specifications,

Memory:
PC3200
That is DDR Sdram, that operates at a maximum frequency rate of 400MegaHertz. (400MHz)

JEDEC voltage standards for DDR Sdram is 2.5 Volts,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM

(Specification standards
Read down )

JEDEC,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JEDEC

The motherboard, may not have SPD features. (Serial Presence Detect)
Do not know if the ram memory does, either.
SPD,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_presence_detect

Sometimes it takes turning the computer off, wait 1 minute, then turn it back on. Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 times of this.
If BIOS doesn't set the voltage up 1/10th of a volt, you may have to do it manually in your BIOS Setup (Utility)

Where did you get DDR Sdram that uses 2.6 Volts, and is it high-performance ram memory?
Post the manufacturer name of the ram memory, and it's manufacturer code, in a Comment.

[The normal factory default setting for the ram memory voltage, is 2.5 Volts. I would see if BIOS Setup will allow bumping the voltage up, before I would EVEN think of a BIOS upgrade ]

Upgrades for SR1920NX

Need driver and bios updates?

Always get your drivers and specific software from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop. They are usually free of charge.

If you were to log on to the www.hp.com web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

I hope this helps.

Hello, go on the hp.com/support website and type in your model name/number. You'll get a list of drivers you can download. It looks like you may have a ATI Radeon Xpress 200, but I only took a quick look.
Hope this helps!

Processor upgrade

Your CPU is tied into your motherboard. Only CPUs that are compatible with your motherboard will work. You can get your motherboard model from start>programs>system tools>system information. Once you have the model # then you can start searching for the CPU options. Good Luck.

Please rate this solution.
