The screen saver has been locking up for weeks. I hold in the start button to turn off the computer. Yesterday after this it would not start. It tries to start to boot up, then gets stuck partway through the process. I let is sit yesterday for a while and later it worked okay, but today the screen saver locked up again and now it will not start again.

Thanks for the suggestion... "F8" did not work in this case. If I remove the power cord and wait, then push it back in, the computer tries to boot (on its own) then stops without me touching the start button. Seems something is not powering down completely keeping it from rebooting properly. Windows XP. I read a post about removing the power supply for a few minutes and putting it back in but it looked like I had to remove everything to get it out. Is there a way to force the power supply off without taking it out of the box?
Hmmm, now it is working. Maybe "F8" worked... It just took a very long time.
Now it gives an error:
Runtime Error!
Program: C\Programs Files\DISC\DISCover.exe
What do I do about that? Use the recovery disks?
