Re: My stereo won't read the disks inserted in my CD...
All you can do is get a lens cleaner and hope that clears it up, otherwise you are looking at what might be an expensive replacement of the CD/lens/laser unit.

I purchased a CD cleaner, ejected the magazine, inserted the disk after removing all disks in magazine, ran the cleaner through the cleaning process, then reinserted the disks and now both professionally made and homemade disks are working again
Hello If it does not play the cleaner disc, just inspect whether the disc inserted in spins inside it. You can check this by open the upper cover of the player, and inserting a disc into it. If inserted disc spins inside, and the player won't read it, the fault is with its laser pickup unit, and it should be replaced with same type and number. If the disc dos not spins, the fault is with the sled motor [the motor that spins the inserted disc], has damaged, and should be replaced. OK.
your cd drive lens may be damage and lens preset will be not currect position so if you want to repair you cd drive then you have to turn your cd drive lens preset to currect position.
i would say for some reason your dvd player is not compatible from now on with that brand of blank dvd!
get the firmware update from the brand website all you do is download the file burnit on a cd and put it in the dvd player should fix most and eventual problems
Did you try taking out that lttle circle thing that you put your cd into.Well, take that out and then clean it.Then, insert it back and it should play your cd
When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks?
If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD.
If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD.
