Will the power cord for the Dell Inspiron 1501 fit the Vostro 1500?

There might be a possibility that the battery is not making good contact with the laptop's charging circuitry. To eliminate this possibility as a root cause of the battery not charging, turn off and unplug the laptop, take the battery off the laptop, and using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self. When done, put the battery back into the laptop, plug it, and turn it on.

First try a different AC adapter, see if the system will power on.
If no change, then the failure is most likely the motherboard

Error 0146 is a failed hard drive or bad drive sector, you have a bad hard drive,

if you have a backup u can restore from a backup. if you don't then call dell if dell says they can't do anything about it then through the piece of **** away and get an hp because every dell product i have had has failed heres a list of dell products i have owned: dell pocket dj5,dell inspiron 1501,dell desktop 2400,dell latitude c600 (that was the worst dell product i have ever owned) and a dell printer. witch is just a lexmark printer with dell logo on it. take my advise and never buy a dell ther are the worst hard ware company i have ever had to deal with!!! i just stick with emachines and western digital,seagate (western digital and seagate are hard drive companies)

First make sure your wifi is enabled. If your laptop was recently updated you will have to re-install driver. I would walk u through it but my 1501 is currently down. Click control panel+add hardware+ device manerger top left hand coner. through this you can enable wireless

Power on the laptop without the battery in the unit. If it powers on, then place the battery in and it will start to charge. Sometime the Dell laptop will not see the battery when it is replaced.
