I am trying to pair my Plantronics Explorer 330 headset to my new phone, an HTC Eris. the phone does not recognize the device. Do you have any ideas?

Remember that newer phones are like small computers, so they may become corrupt over time and you may need to reset them every so often. Simply turn your phone off and remove the battery for a few seconds, then replace the battery and turn it back on again. If this does not resolve the issue, delete the pairing information for your Explorer 330 headset and pair it with your phone again. Once you make your BlackBerry discoverable, then put the Plantronics Explorer 330 into pairing mode by holding the call control button until the headset flashes red and blue. Here is the link below for the Explorer 320 user guide which has the pairing instructions, it will be the same for the 330.

When joining (or pairing) a Plantronics bluetooth headset to another device a lot depends on the other device. Assuming that you know the necessary steps of your phone or PC for connecting a bluetooth device, all Plantronics headsets pretty much follow a set pairing procedure for connectivity. This one is for the Discovery 975:

1 Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your phone.
2 Turn the earpiece on. Press and hold the call control button until the indicator flashes red/white.
3 Use the commands on your phone to locate and select your earpiece. 9xx Plantronics.
4 If prompted for the PIN code or Passkey, enter 0000.

Pairing is successful when the indicator on your earpiece flashes white.

Note If your phone supports Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you will not need to enter a PIN code or Passkey.

The headset will automatically pair with the last device that it was paired with. You may want to remove that just in case. I am sending the users guide along with this. Also always start with the blue tooth turned off, the pass key is 0000 (four zeros).

If you are seeing the blue light blink and then go off, the headset is powered on. The blue light does not continuously flash while the headset is powered up. Try making a phone call or pairing the headset to your phone to see if it recognizes that you are trying to use it.

I just figured out how to reset the 3XXPlatronics 330. The guest might of of made it a little confusing for some:
1) TURN OFF bluetooth head set by holding the volume control button for about a few seconds until it flashes blue.
2) Make sure your phone's bluetooth is on and on discover mode.
3) Turn on the blue tooth head set (NOTE: HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME BUTTON UNTIL IT FLASHES BLUE AND RED)
4) Lastly, go into your search menu to find new bluetooth devices. The device should show up as "3XXPlantronics" (PASSKEY IS 0000).
