FDW60 Fast40 and Delicate50 flash

Hotpoint FDW60 - Able to select a wash program and machine fills up with water as the program is about to start "Fast40" and "Delicate50" flash rapidly and you can hear the water draining away. Checked all filters are clean and there are are no blockages. Forums suggest that it is the Heating element that is at fault, which costs £50 which cheaper than the £105 labour cost. How easy is it to replace this? I have an engineering background, but not familier with kitchen appliences - many thanks Ken

Heating circuit open is the fault code.
checks to be carried out to make sure of diagnosis

Check the circuit of the heating element (26 ohms).
Check for an open circuit heater cut-out.
Check pressure switch open circuit (connections 11-14).
Check wiring and connections between module card, pressure switch and heater.
If all above is OK, replace module card.

Heater Replacement
1.Remove top cover as in.
2.Remove the left hand side panel.
3.Using suitable floor protection carefully lay dishwasher on right hand side; this may result in
water spillage from the air break unit.
4.Remove the base panel.
5.Disconnect the wiring.
6.Slacken the clips securing the hoses.
7.Replace in reverse order (using jubilee clips not existing)

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice on testing it first as I might be replacing something that doesn't need replacing, part has 7 day return in case I don't need it"

Hotpoint BWD 129 machine starts to fill -

Try on a cold wash or rince cycle, if this then works it could be faulty heater element.

Hotpoint FDW60 flashing eco light

if the eco light is flashing, this indicates that saftey float switch has activated in the base of the dishwasher usually caused by a leak, a polystyrene float activates a microswitch which cuts of the water inlet supply

Dwf50 Two flashing lights are :- fast40% and delicate 50%

Take out and clean your lower and upper spray arms.
The bottom one had bits of chipped crockery in it.The upper one a bit of platic bag(?????) and some of the door seal rubber.
Mine works fine now.
No screw driver, no mop nor an expensive call out!!
