First when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
If you are able to enter then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if you are not able to see safe mode and other menu.
Then open cpu cabinet .
Refix RAM memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Reattach all connection harddrive.
Open processor fan and processor remove dust from all parts.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Remove PCI cards if any.
After all above still same then change RAM then try.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I had this problem Gateway says 1. with power off, unplug the computer from the outlet 2.Then press and hold the on button for 10 seconds as this will reduce static build up with the power cord unplugged. 3.When you press the button you will see the blue light come on momentarily that is when it is statically discharging the system..Believe it or not this issue has gone away without all the technical solutions.

Power blue light flashing when i turn the computer on

It depends on where the blue light is. Is the blue light on the monitor or on the computer tower? If it is on the monitor the monitor is having problems and needs to be serviced. If it is on the tower it could be an issue with the power supply.

Well we had a power outage today and when the power came back the computer went back on but instead of starting up windows the blue power button flashes. but the fans and components inside the computer...

if there is no post sound (beeps) and the pc does have a speaker you can try this first.

remove the power cable
hold the power button in for 15 seconds to clear the residual power.
replace cord and power on

if you still have the same result, then you need to learn how to reset the bios/cmos on your system.

Monitor shows picture for 1/2 second then goes black, 22" display. also will not show display menus. have hooked another monitor up and works fine. also have hooked up to another computor and problem...

When you switch the monitors, do you still use the very same vga cable? If you don't, then it's time to change the monitor. When it turns on and off inmediately it means that it's receiving the signal, but that's it. If it's brand new, exchange it.

Monitor and keyboard won't turn on

A couple of things here:

1) The flashing light and signal message indicate that the monitor is functioning but is not receiving a signal from the computer.

2) The memory that you added is liklely to be incompatible with the computer itself and is preventing the system from booting. The computer will perform a selftest when powered on. Normally when there is a memory issue, the unit will beep. In some cases, there will be no action.

Remove the added memory and attempt to boot the system. If it starts up OK, then the memory you have added is the problem.

Update this if you require additional assistance.

Thanks,
Dan

Nothing comes up on the screen

The monitor connected to the system is set to receive video signals from the DVI port on the video card and it is not getting a signal.

Possible Causes:
  1. Monitor is connected via VGA (Blue Connector). Fix by using the input select button to select DVI input)
  2. The video cable is not connected to the correct port on the system (Or not connected at all)
  3. The monitor is on, but the tower is not powering on or failing to complete the Power On Self-Test (POST). It the power LED on the tower is NOT on, or solid or flashing Amber then the tower is not posting. Flashing amber is normally a bad power supply, solid amber is the motherboard.

The screen seems dead

Hi, normally monitors have an indicator light that lites up when power is applied. This changes color or another lites up when it receives video signal from the computer. If no light then most likely defective monitor. Possibly the only way to positively check is to replace it with another known good monitor and connect to the PC. Power up and there should be a display. If there is then the 1st monitor is defective, if still nothing then it is the PC that is defective. It might also be worth to check/replace the power cord and/or video cable if applicable. Hopes this works out for you. Good luck and post again how things turn up.
