The cam wont take pictures and it automatically off,and it cannot play or see the pictures is it a software or hardware..

After this install the Webcam driver in the system.
Installation of Webcam Driver
Go to the control panel
Click on the System Icon
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager s
Select the Unknown Device or printer device where yellow Question Marks sign on it.
Right click on it and uninstall it.
After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.
Driver installation Wizard start.
Brows Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
Driver will be install.

I cannot take a picture with my webcan in my laptop
Possible that the web cam is not installed properly . so uninstall the webcam from the PC, shut down and restart. now download the driver software from the free download center of HP. once the program is run, connecct the web cam to be detected and installed. check the properties. if this wont open then there can be problems in the webcam- suspected hardware issues. to confirm try the cam with another PC.

Web Cam picture continually goes from dark to light and then light to dark.
Please remove the web cam and uninstall the driver of the web-cam. now reinstall the driver after the PC was restarted and then connect the web-cam to be detected and installed.
if this wont work then the web cam is faulty- a hardware issue.

When you plug it into the computer, Does the Computer recognize it, and if yes, what does the computer recognize it as..?? How old is it? When/where did you buy it? if on ebay... Give me the EBAY item number...if not please post a picture of the actual webcam (closeups front, and back)

If the computer does not recognize the WEB CAM when you plug it in... then most likely the webcam in busted.../too old.. These webcams are not so cheap it may not be worth the hassle... I hope this helps.

Same here!!
1. uninstall the software
2.restart your computer
3. re install the software
4. rightclick on mycomputer,then properties,then hardware,then device manager,double click on the imaging devices
5.if any yellow color pointed icon appears on any devices, then right click,diable or uninstall it
6.selec ACTION from the top menu bar and select hardware changes.
7.it will detect and install other supporting drivers.

The driver cd wont work
Start your PC and once it is fully booted, plug in the web cam. Windows will detect and attempt to configure your cam automatically, you may have to make a few selections to help the hardware wizard and that should do it.

next if your cam shows highlight click next
if it does'nt show automatically then click next scroll down to add new hardware click next automatically detect
if it does'nt detect then start again and select from list find your cam in the list click and follow instructions

Not uploading pictures
I think I know what the problem is, first off the computer must be able to communicate with the
camera/device irregardless of the drivers. The camera is plug and play and so is the computer
unless you are using an older version of windows like 98 or 98 second edition. If you are 98 etc load
the old drivers. But if you are 2000, millineum, or xp then the drivers are automatic for the usb ports.
The panasonic dmc-fz7 is kind of a freak in that it is not a true plug and play device. Sometimes
you have to declare the new hardware. It may have once worked but for what ever reason the hardware may not jive with what the pc thinks it sees if anything at all.
Solution: Go into the Control panel , add hardware wizard, with the camera hooked up to the usb
port and the camera turned on. In the device manager you should get the appropriate message, "new hardware detected" actually it should say dmc-fz7 etc. From there it should be apparent that things are working normally....Good luck. Probably a power glitch or who knows. Mostly its a problem with panasonic plug and play software which they corrected a year or so later with the newer cameras...

there is two ways to load pictures from your cam to pc:
step 1
youll need a card reader to put in the memory card to a usb port.
A.then the computer will recognize the device as a FLASH DISK/ REMOVABLE DISK.
B.some pc will automatically open once you inserted the card reader to the usb port "click open containing folder". if the pc does not open automatically open my computer and find the "falsh disk/removable disk" and click.
C.once inside find the DCIM folder this contains your pictures taken from your cam.
D. now you can choose a picture you like to be transfered or copy to your PC
E. save picture in a folder that you ca easily remember

step 2
need a usb wire to connect cam to usb port
A. attach wire from your cam to usb port/pc
B. your cam will show options choose storage data. the other options requires a software
C.same as step 1 from B-E
