New HP Pavilion notebook computer with VISTA + new HP F380 printer; works fine when copying or printing from the Internet or from Word or from emails but won't print Excel documents & won't scan (gives a little hiccup then does nothing) -- no error message, just nothing. i have the exact same problem. When i press the scanning button nothing happens and only the power button icon startes to blink for about a minute and then stops.

I have windows vista, all the features work except scanning. I am USB installed and the "on" light blinks when I try to scan it stops in about 30 seconds and nothing else happens. have windows vista home premium. HP deskjet all in one F2120. Wacom Intuos 2 Graphics tablet. Scanner worked fine until I installed the driver for the tablet. I had the F380 working fine on my old laptop (Dell) but when I bought anew laptop (HP Pavilion tx2117cl) it doesn't scan. I want to scan a document and send it by email to someone. This was easily done on the Dell - the nice HP window would pop up and I was sailing. Now, nothing happens. When I tried loading the drive (by cd) onto my new laptop's hard drive it wouldn't receive it. (My new laptop is running Vista - might be the problem) I had to first get an update from Microsoft and then download the driver through the internet.
I really need to have this scanner working so I can scan and send documents daily. Thanks.

i think its vista that doesnt work with the scanner because it wont install the disc
on my old computer it worked fine
now it will print and thats all

I have a deskjet f4580 the printer and the copier works but the scanner doesnt...i have a acer laptop with windows 7. i installed it once before and everything worked just fine. i reinstalled it and the scanner will not work. when i push the scanner button the power light flashes also the light next to the wireless button flashes orange how can i solve my problem

If you scanner only has Win XP drivers, then you have only two choices as those drivers wont work on WIN 7. One is to buy a new scanner, as you have already suggested. The other is to create a virtual machine, load WIN XP onto it, and then install the scanner drivers on the virtual machine. This should work fine as I do it for a piece of software that only works on WIN XP, however it is a bit of a inconvenience to use.
Try using the Lexmark Productivity Studio. To access that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series > Lexmark Productivity Studio.
If that doesn't show up as an option, install the Lexmark Productivity Studio using the installation CD of your printer.
When it doesn't start check for fuel pressure, spark and injector pulse. If you got access to a scanner that could read live data check if you get an RPM reference. Check and report your findings.
try putting your USB stick in the port provided at the back side your PC !!! if it doesn't work try in your friends PC if it doesn't work there then your USB stick must have failed!!
1. place a doc to scan in the scanner. Close the lid and hit MENU, COPY document, START.
If that doesn't work you'll need to contact kodak. If it does then try this next:

If it still doesn't work then you'll need to take it in for service.
IF the car cranks over but doesn't start you need to see if you have Spark and Fuel. IF it doesn't crank, check starter and related circuit, tapping on starter will sometimes help to get it rotating. Check all fuses, and make sure battery terminals are clean and tight. Have someone or yourself connect a scanner DTC reader and see if you have any engine computer faults. If manual transmission make sure your clutch pedal switch is not missing the bushing. Aftermarket alarms can cause no starts also, but usually a "no-crank" situation.
maybe the cabel is broken, what type of cabel do you use for connecting to pc? if usb try to change the usb port, if this doesn"t work change the cabel. btw the scanner has to be started.
Usually this type of error message pops up when the scanner lamp isn?t warming up properly. This is what you should do:
1. Check if the lamp is on.
2. Unplug the scanner?s power supply and plug it back in. Try connecting it diretly to the wall.
3. If that doesn?t work:
a. Unplug the unit?s power supply.
b. Press ?cancel? and left arrow while reconnecting the unit.
c. Release the buttons when the printer starts up.
4. Try scanning again.
5. If it doesn?t work, have it serviced.
