Why player won't recognise disc

Several things can cause a disk not to read. You could have a bad disc, the wrong type of disc, the disc might not be finalized, the laser pickup could be dirty Try cleaning with a disk cleaner Other problems include bad or weak lasers the spindle motor could be bad ,the disk in detect switch could be dirty. The disk may not be loading into the proper position. These are the more common problems

I have NESA DVD-8000 in my boat, which was bought directly as new one from Florida, but it do not play all the discs, wrong region. Can you tell me how to unlock player to play all region discs? Thanks

You should go back to the sales person if it has been a recent purchase as there is no reason why they should even be in a possession of a system that is in the wrong region, there is North American, European and Asian region why they installed one of these other two regions is beyond me, but the answer to your question in short is no, the only thing you can do is encode DVD into a region free and you should be good.

Pioneer DVD 717 - Not Loading Discs Whenever I load a disc, the player spins the disc for a moment before slowing down. to a stop. It repeats this around four times in succession before it then opens...

Hi msaslloyd ,

This could be because of a damaged lens , where the dvd player tries to recognize the disc but is unable to do so and then either sends the disc back i.e. the tray opens up or the message no disc loaded is displayed.

I suggest you to :-

  1. Clean the lens with a lens cleaner available in the market and load any disc in the player to check if it's working fine.
  2. Get the lens replaced from the market and the problem should be solved.
Hope this helps ..:)

Will not play dvd's. just says disc loading. is it bad and needs to be replaced or can it be fixed easily?

First of all, you have to make sure that the DVD disc you are trying to play is not bad scratched or damaged.
In most cases, the disc could have some internal damage and this could hinder the player from loading it.
Also, if you can try different discs on the player to see if it does the same thing to all of them, if it does, then you can confirm that the player is having issues.
It is not advisable for an inexperienced person to open and tamper a Class C laser device.
This is a device of such caliber.
It is best advised you send it to an expert for repairs and it should not cost much as it may just require a change of lens.
Hope this was helpful? Please comment for more information and thank you for using fixya.

Irregular performance...

sounds to me like your laser is gone.
Some discs are harder to play than others as some are multilayed, check online as to whether it is suitable to use laser cleaners these are like discs with soft brushes attached, you can get them from pretty much any computing place, i wouldnt know whether its sensible to use on a DVD player, but couldnt hurt anymore eh?
