My modem ADSL data light keeps flashing and sometimes does not appear affecting my ability to acces the Internet. I usually have to re-boot my computer and this seems to solve the problem for a time. It is very inconsistant and anoying.Thank youM. Davis
ADSL DATA light flashes says there is internet activity (Internet status: Connected)... ADSL DATA when off says there is no internet activity (Internet status: Not Connected)...
This occurs when there is a lot of noise in your telephone line... It is adviced to do a line test in this case to find the amount of noise in your line... If there is a lot of noise your modem will lose the internet connectivity and will try to re-establish the connection with ISP... In this case the ADSL DATA light switches between OFF and ON...
One more thing... ADSL SYNC light should be steady... If it is blinking is says there is no syncronisation between your modem and ISP...
You are a bit confused with the various components required for Internet connections.
If you have a dial-up connection with an Internet Service Provider, all you do is connect your computer's modem port to the phone line and dial the phone number of your Internet Service provider.
If you are connected to the Internet Servise Provider by ADSL and have a combined ADSL router and modem then you connect the phone line to this router/modem. If the ADSL modem is separate component then the phone line is connected to the ADSL modem and this modem is connected to the router with a LAN cable and the computer is connected to the router with another LAN cable. If the route is wireless and the computer has a wireless card then you don't need a LAN cable between the router and the computer.
If you are connected to the Internet by ADSL, to secure your Internet connection and configure your computer so it can connect to the Internet, please follow my instruction - click on this link :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
I had the same problem different wireless driver...it could be the wrong driver...what version of Windows? What you can do is take a note of the driver being used, roll back the driver if you can ..I'm not sure what windows your on..but this worked for me with all the window updates drove me crazy. Windows tech support also stated, all the drivers they provided may not work even though they supplied them..so drivers may have to be reinstalled to work properly. I hope this help..
I tried this, but that didnt fix it all
Sometimes the wireless switch is off (Fn+F5) when you reboot the system (not the physical one).
Some people have suggested that you need to disable WEP encryption. Thats not necessary.
Mine works fine now, but it is frustrating (I have DSL and had issues connecting to the router too. try gateway.2wire.net). if that doesnt work try gateway.2wire.net/setup
the modem may have gone faulty so if your isp provided it ask them to replace it if the modem is in warranty period and if your isp provides internet connection through the phone line then first please try plugging the modem on main socket in with an adsl filter plugged in and if this is not the case then problem is definately the line through which the broadband signal come to your place which is suppose to be sorted out by your isp.
To setup your router first check.. Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online, to setup connection.. Step 1: Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port. Step 2: Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4). NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3. Step 3: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4: check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first, to config your router i need some more information your internet service providers (isp)name , and how many computers do u have totally..
