Hello Check its power supply regulator board. The pop sound you heard may be due to an explosion to any electrolytic capcitors on it. If the line voltage exceeds, this fault will happen. just repalce the damaged component. It is best to replace this board as card basis.

It seems there is a loose connection between the board
producing the picture and the screen; this is why this would happen. If turning
the TV on and off makes no difference, try contact Phillips to see if they can
talk you through a factory reset. If this does not work, the set may require
service.
inverter gone bad.. one of the transformers sorted and when one backlight is off tv shut's others too.. if you can measure which one is sorted you can change it if you find new one.. first try http://www.lcdparts.net
Normally, the screen control being up a little to high, would cause this problem.
If no one has worked on this unit when it started may be a sign of something else, for example, the 200 volt line may be running a little low.
Check the brightness and contrast for starters and if that doesn't help, then, the screen control would be my next step.
