Tip & How-To about Dishwashers

Bosch DIshwasher Woes

Does you Bosch dishwasher seem to hang up at finishing the dish washing cycle?

Since originally writing this tip 2-3 years ago (2009 maybe?), I have provided the upgrade to countless others who have had the problem. Here it is, 2013, and I continue to upgrade several control son a weekly basis. Please follow the information below, and I can assure you that your dishwasher will be up and running again - better than new!

I happen to own one of these beauties, and SHU4306, and while all the Bosch dishwashers in this series of dishwashers do an excellent job of washing the dishes, they also have a design flaw that is very expensive to fix as it requires a new controller board.

But the problem surfaced with our dishwasher a few months ago, and I was put to the test by the resident dishwasher at out house, who is not happy when the dishwasher is broken.

There is a relay on the controller board that will fail, sooner or later. Bosch even has a service bulletin for their techs on a recommended procedure to repair a burned place on the circuit board underneath the relay. However, the repair is short term, and eventually the relay will fail again (I know, I tried it.). The repair is not sufficient, and there really is a more economical, and more technically correct, way to repair the board.

After the Bosch directed repair failed, I pulled off my dufus cap, put on my Engineering cap, and dug in. Here, I found the failed relay, and discovered the flaw in the board design. I ordered a more substantial replacement, and two days later, I was up and running.

I know that the failure occurs on the following Models-

SHI

4302 4306

6802 6805 6806

SHU

3032 3035 3036

3302 3305 3306 3322 3326 3336

4302 4306 4312 4316 4322 4326

5302 5304 5305 5306 5307 5312 5314 5315 5316 5317

6802 6805 6806

9902 9905 9906 9912 9915 9916 9922 9925 9926

SHV

4303 4803

There may be others, and, other manufacturers may have similar issues.

Bosch also provides a test sequence for their dishwashers that anyone can put the dishwasher through to help isolate what the problem might be. I am sure other dishwasher manufacturers do the same, and I will continue to dig for those sequences as time permits.

Contact me for additional help and support in determining the cause of your failure, and instruction on what parts to purchase or what to do next. (Don't throw the dishwasher out with the dishwater, so to speak!.).

You can reach me at - BoschRepair "at" tx.rr.com - (type it in as an email address, just like it sounds :-) ).

I can also make repairs to failed boards, where I make the needed repairs and test the board on a test bench made up of the same components that are found in the dishwasher. I do this with quick turn around, normally shipping the boards out the same day I receive them.
All repairs are made taking into consideration my years of experience in HVAC and appliance repairs, including working as an Engineer in design of such equipment, working with listing agencies such as U/L and CSA. I know what the concerns are, and will only make repairs that I deem are suitable and equally if not more safe than the original design.

I can easily save you the cost of a new board, as my repairs are 1/4 the cost of a new board.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Water left after finishing wash

I have a Bosch Dishwasher and the E-Nr is SGS4362EU/03. The machine is approximately 4 years old, in good condition and has been working very well. Suddenly, there is water remaining after it completes a 50 degrees C wash cycle. This is also evident with the pre wash cycle and the 65 degrees wash cycle.

I have checked and cleaned the filters. I have loosened the internal pump white cover (Torx T 20 screw) and checked for any physical blockage - none. I have also checked for any drainage hose kinks - none.

I have tried a series of empty washes and the machine drains the water during the wash cycles. The dishes are also have a dull colour and show show signs of not being properly rinsed during the wash cycle.

Please assist.
