This is a good picture and the tapping confirms some thing I have seen, this model is involved in a recall of sorts--the most common issue with it is around the T-Con board.
It can be bad connections on it or where it connects to the screen unit, it can also be inside the display panel (screen unit) where it cannot be got at
If it reacts to tapping any good shop will find if bad or loose connection outside of the display panel--if inside there is not a way to get in there, entire panel would in that case have to be replaced which usually means its cheaper to buy a new set.

what do you mean display problem ? the red shows as pink ? the screen is black ? the screen is dimmed ? the screen produses smoke ? images are distorted ? screen is crashed ? - i can guess 100 things that mean "display problem" :)
if its not a software issue then it should be vga or tft... and are very expensive to fix... see for a new laptop...
From your description, it sounds like an alignment problem. There are 3 LCD panels in the projector. Each one displays an exact duplicate image of the others except it's either red, green, or blue. Under normal conditions, the images precisely overlay one another so you get a sharp image. Due to age, heat, or vibration/shock(impact) it would appear that the red LCD panel has shifted a little, giving the "ghosting" effect. You'll have to have the unit repaired by a qualified tech. He'll have the special electronic equipment needed to align the panels properly. Before sending the unit in, try a reset in the menu. Sometimes, the projectors can shift the image electronically, using math algorithms which will try to auto-sharpen the display. Hope I was able to help!---Rick
There should be a setting under the setup screen that should adjust conrtast and brightness.
If that doesn't help than that means that the light behind the lcd display of the unit has burnt out.
If you can't deal with it then it will be cheaper to just purchase a new unit than attempting to get in there to fix it. Also try to get it covered under warrenty if it is that problem
If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.
Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.
Don't disconnect it just because the screen freezes. This can happen if the battery is depleted too far, because the load is too great for charging AND running the device simultaneously. Leave it connected for 20 minutes or so, to see if the screen returns to normal appearance. If not, then you will be needing a new battery. Be sure to charge the new one BEFORE it is fully depleted. They are not NiCd batteries, so there is no need to fear ?memory effect". With NiMh and Lithium batteries, those days are gone, thank God!
