There is no difference between a "digital" and analog antenna. Either antenna will capture the signal. What you need is a digital converter box to convert the over air digital signal to the older analog type signal your TV needs. You connect the antenna to the digital converter box, and the digital converter box to the TV. Several years ago, the US government forced peopel to buy digital converter boxes or newer TVs that could pick up the digital signal. Either get a digital converter box or a new TV.
I do not know if you will get this message but if you do. Here goes. The protron PLTV3250 does indeed have a digital tuner that can be used with an over the air antenna. You need to push "source" on the remote until DTV is selected. With this selected and your coaxial cable from your antenna hooked up to the digital connector (not analog) on the back of this tv you can then press Menu and you will see a totally different looking menu that you are probably not used to seeing and then from there you can do an auto scan for the digital channels and it works great. I have rabbit ears hooked up to this Protron PLTV3250 and this has a beautiful picture. Far better than the picture I get from just the standard digital Directv receiver. You do not need a seperate digital tuner box to use with this TV. It does indeed have an ATSC digital tuner and it works great. You probably are selecting Source "TV" in the menu and that is not what you select for this TV to use the Digital Tuner. You need to select DTV from the source menu. Good luck and please let me know if you already knew this or if this helped you. Thanks, Tom
Hi, The TV has an analog tuner only and so is not DTV ready. You will require a seperate set top box to receive digital programs with it. If you have brought the set recently it should have had an appropriate warning label on it. If not ,you may have some come back with the store which sold it.(depends on the country where purchased)
Are you wondering if this Durabrand TV is going to be ok in 2009 when Television goes all Digital?
This will not affect cable TV users only people trying to recieve TV over the AIR UHF/VHF will be digital signals now and will require a special tuner to recieve them.
Most durabrands have Analog/Digital tuners but they are analog TV's.
harvque- you can use rabbit ears to get the local free channels, but you will probably need to extend the wires and try to mount them outside. The main reason is because the newer tv's with digital tuners don't pick up as well as old school tuners, and the tv signals are not as strong cause they are usually boosted as the are wired in.Try this and let me know,I do have a few tricks for free air tv. cooltekFeb.18/08
