My thinkpad t21 just died! It started 2 weeks ago when I would turn it on, sometimes the screen would not light up or come on. I could see in the shadow, if there was a light on the screen that it was booting up, because I could vaguely see the thinkpad logo, and then eventually my icons, but this was all while the screen was still dark!!! When or if it did come on it took about 20 minutes or even longer, before the screen would light up and I could see anything! Now, nothing! When I push the button for it to start up, the keys do not even light up, just nothing. The only light I see is from the battery light, because it is plugged in. What should I do? Do I need a new battery or is this computer now dead in the water?

Remove the battery and power cord. Hold the power button in while connecting the power cord hen the battery. This will reset the power distribution settings. If this does nor resolve the issue then you need a new power supply. With this machine a new computer would be less expensive.

IBM thinkpad T21

I had a similar problem after My pc got damp in a bag in the rain. I contacted IBM and was given this fix which I am supprised worked but it did so here it is cannot hurt to try. Remove the main battery and the mains power supply press the power on button for 17 seconds. This I think is to drain all the power from the laptop altogether. Replace the mains lead and turn on. Once the laptop has openen up into windows turn it off and replace the mains battery then power on again. In my case this worked I hope this helps.
