I have an epson stylus photo R200. It has stopped working and has alternate red flashing lights. Error message says serviceable parts are nearing end of life. How do I get it to carry on working?

There are 2 causes for this. CD/DVD Guide Error and Carriage Error.

Red ink and paper lights flashing alternately. CD/DVD Tray closed (never opened). Had been receiving screen warning that "parts inside your printer are at the end of their life, check manual" but manual...

The problem that you are having is that the printer has reached its end of life. The waste pads inside the unit will need to be replaced with new ones and the unit will need to be replaced. Estimated cost will be $65 - $85.00

google ssc service utility - your printer has reached its end of service life and needs to be reset - download the utility and reset the printer.

yes actually there is. the parts its talking about is the inkpad, you can send this over to an epson certifies servicer in your are to have inkpad change and they will reset the counters for it. go this link and look for a servicer near your place

I'm not sure about the servicable parts. You might want to contact Epson.

I have seen "parts are nearing the end of life" which applies to the ink pads that absorb excess ink. In that case, the printer needs to be replaced or serviced by Epson or an independent service provider. If you just get the ink pads serviced, it may still fail soon. Then you can run the resrt utility. For more information and the reset utility: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp?cookies=no&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes
