I was wiping down the keys on my laptop. two of the keys popped off. I noticed the white clips broke. Can I replace just the key board on my laptop myself?

You can of course replace a single key as there are many companies selling out individual keys. I have replaced my laptop key from laptopkey.com They sent me a whole kit with the plastic pieces and key cap. Very convenient and low in price.

Try to get them back together, possibly use super glue or similar plastic glue, a very handy person required for the job, it needs to be glued back together just right, or just remove those buttons from the keyboard, you will find that the keys work with a press of your finger.

only possible replacement is the whole keyboard, you can not replace a key or two, no one makes or sells those separately, or you could possibly buy a new keyboard and rip of a key or two but you risk breaking them as well.

Take the laptop to a professional the replacement will cost around 50 to 100 or less. if you wish to do the job yourself you may be able to buy a replacement keyboard from www.ebay.com

I broke the Y key for my laptop. I broke the white bracket under the black key. The black part is intact but it is completely detached from the keyboard. Can this be fixed?

No the broken retainer clip can not be repaired, but you can buy a new laptop key retainer clip, take a look at www.replacementlaptopkeys.com, they sell the toshiba laptop keys you need, take care.

Some keys popped off...we have all the parts just dont know how to put then back

There should be two white pieces that hinge together. Put the togeter, then attach them to the key. They can only go in one direction, but you can put them upside down. On the white piece the hinges inside the other, the part that clips is going to be flush on one side, that is the side that clips to the key. One attached to the key, spread the away from the key as far as possible. One computer, you will see that it has two clips on either side for the key, one side will be l-shaped. With the hinges fully extended, tilt the key toward you and slide the white piece into the l clips on the board. Press down firmly and you should hear/feel the other to clips attach. It might take a few tries, I usually use my pocket knife to hold the hinges extended while I slip the first hinge in the clips.

u need to find the screws that hold it down. if it dosnt come up them it mite b held down by clips on either the side or the top. examine it closly. ul notice where its held down at. after it comes up there will brobably be 2 cords pluged into the mother board. just find the brace at the end (the one conected to the motherboard) and pop it down or up. depending on the motherboard. then insert the cord that belongs there. the rest should b obvious just reverse the steps till completion

How to replace keys on laptop

By using a butter knife or something similar, put knife under one of the corners of the key to be removed, carefully pry up on the key, the key will "pop" up and away from the laptop. The key is held in place by 2 clips on the under side of it. When replacing with a new one, just take new key and push down until both clips engages on the edges of the new key.

The metal bar needs to be clipped on to the plastic shift key. Look under the plastic shift key and you can see recess where the metal bar fits. Place the shift key over these recess and push down until it clicks into place.
