The magnetron may be bad or the it may be a problem with the circuit board. Repairing a microwave is not a DIY repair for the average consumer. The microwave can shock you even if it is not plugged in. It contains a high voltage capacitor which will hold a charge. They are complicated and not easy to repair. You have to ask yourself if it is cost effective to pay someone to repair it. If it is a countertop microwave it is almost certain the best course of action is to just buy a new microwave as the cost of repairs will exceed the price of a new one. If it is an over the cooktop microwave it may be worth repairing if it is a top of the line unit. If it is a low cost unit then it is more than like not worth the cost of the repairs.
