The camera took great pictures then all of a sudden the screen appears as a purple haze -- and the pictures come out as just a purple blurry haze. Adjusting brightness doesn't work. Yet, the shutt

If the LCD displays correctly on previous photos then the problem is more than likely a CCD or associated ribbon connector failure due to moisture/condensation or age/misuse. Good luck with finding a replacement part!

The images apprear purple on the screen, and dark in patches. New photo's taken, come out purple. But existing photo's appear on the screen as, normal.

Hi,

If the previously captured images are appearing fine in the Camera, then the issue is with the CCD Image Sensor unit only. Check if the display icons are appearing normally on the Camera screen.

Try power resetting and Factory resetting the Camera to check if the issue can be resolved:
Power reset:
Remove the batteries from the Camera.
Press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds.
Then, reinsert the batteries after 1 minute.
Factory reset;
To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera to OK.

Home-->Settings-->Main Settings 1-->Initialize-->OK

Why is the LCD Purple on my IXUS 970is when i turn it on? Photos also appear purple with vertical lines on them

That really sounds like CCD image sensor failure. This is something that you cannot repair yourself. How old is your camera? Is it still under warranty? Even if it's not, recommend contacting Canon, as such failure in recent cameras is very unusual. They may offer to repair it no cost, you never know. 1-800-OK-CANON for U.S. or Canada.

My fujifilm s5000 has purple lines coming up on the screen and when i take a photo. what could be wrong and is it easily fixed?i need to get it fixed as i cannot afford a new 1

If the purple lines only appear when you point the lens INTO the sun or light source, that would be why they appear in the photo. If you have the sun/light source behind you and the purple lines still appear on the screen and in the photo, it's time to get a new camera.

Re: turning on s700

How are your pictures coming out? If the photos you take after seeing these lines come out good, then it could be the LCD only. However, if you are unable to shoot, or the photo files are damaged, there may be a problem internally. You should contact Fuji to see if they have heard of this problem, and if not, contact local camera shops to see if they can take a look at it. Also, digital cameras and card will only last so long - they will wear out much sooner than their film counterparts did.

Purple Screen

If it is only 2 months old,then you still have warranty.
A purple lcd, viewfinder and photo is a 100% CCD failure.
If out of warranty, not worth the repair.

Purple line on top of the CCD and pink lines on photos

Contact Canon at 1-800-828-4040 and they will fix it.

I had a similar problem and it turns out to be a known problem with the CCD chip in the camara. Contact Canon and they will give you instructions to return the Camera including shipping labels. They will cover the cost of the repair regardless of the warrantee status and they are quick. You pay shipping one way.

The only issue i have is that the problem has returned a year later and I have to send it back. But I calledCanon and they said they would cover it.

My camera will only take pictures of a purple screen

Sounds like a defective CCD imager. You may be in luck. Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:
