Need a colour scanner, If you have a colour printer with scanner, then install the printer scanner, go to My computer and double click on the Scanner Icon Put a Colour paper in Scanner and go to preview then click on next colour picture next and finish. Your colour scanner scanes a colour page

The repeating image is a ghost image, and here is described what it can be. Probably if you solve this, you also solve the red-dot problem. If possible, I would suggest to replace the wiper blade.
Repeating images on laser printerThis likely means a faint ghost of the main printout at a distance equal to the circumference of one of the rollers or photosensitive drum.

Depending on where the problem originates, this could be a bad wiper (cleaning) blade, faulty corona, or incomplete fusing.

• If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of the photosensitive drum, it is a wiper blade, erase lamp, or corona problem.A residual latent image or residual toner is sticking to the drum and not being properly cleared.
  
  
• If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of one of the fuser rollers, then the fusing may not be complete due to damaged rollers or an incorrect temperature setting.

It is easy to determine where the problem is located: Interrupt a printout in mid-stride (where part of the paper is between the toner/developer and fuser. If the un-fused image has ghosting, it is a fault in the area of the drum

If you are using a component video cable (Red, Green, Blue) you may simply be missing the Red cable. It may not be fully plugged in.
You can verify that this is the case by: 1. Unplugging all video cables 2. Plug in the green cable, you should see a black and white image. 3. Plug in the blue cable, you should see some colours coming through. 4. Plug in the red cable, you should see all colours properly.
If not, unplug the blue and red cables and plug the blue cable into the red port. The colours will look incorrect, skin tones will be blue. If the colour comes through the problem is the cable. If the colour does not come through, the problem may be the projector.

This red issue has been bugging me over the last week. I have now created over 50 A4 prints of my test file and it was after reading a post from Dan P that the answer came to me. I had been trying to correct the over saturated reds by reducing it in curves, levels and colour balance. Of course this was not the way to go, unless the image has an overall cast. The better method is to enter into Selective Colour within Photoshop and adjust just the red only. The values I have used are Cyan + 15 (this reduces the red), Magenta -5 (removes the remaining traces), Yellow +10 (removes the blue and warms up the skin again), Black -15 (lifts the image). Save the settings and reload them on future images. Create an action and use one of your Function keys to apply the Selective Colours. Incorporate the print command within the same action, this way you can be certain that the selective colour will be applied each time you print. This may not be the ideal solution, but for me it will do for the time being, until Canon come up with a new profile. I expect to make colour adjustments on most images and this is just one of those steps.
Use the Selective colour adjustment - it works The ink levels after 55 A4 prints - I don't think so As near perfect as I can get it Reels are now spot on Note: The above solution is a work-a-round which cures the excess red, once you apply the Selective Colour adjustment the screen image will not look right. The adjustment is applied to correct the printed version. Like so many things digital (and analog) you have to make adjustments to suit your own preferences. The strong vivid colours produced by the ip8500 will appeal to some, others may want to tweak their settings.
As a final note, I have just looked at the ink levels after 55 A4 prints and wow, this printer only uses the light Cyan and Magenta, the rest of the colours are all unused. I don't think so somehow. Canon, I think this does indicate that you have a problem with the driver and have another look at the profiles while you are fixing that.
Would I buy this printer?
Given that creating a new profile is not a major problem and I am sure a new one will follow very shortly, then yes I would buy it. Using Photoshop I have managed to correct the colours to suit my taste, however, some may like the bolder colours out of the box. The ip8500 features and image quality makes this printer stand out from the competition.

If you have loaded Adobe 8.X Reader, then unload it, and go to Adobe site and load Adobe 7.02 Reader. Problem will probably go away. Mine did, I can now scan in color again.
